On Jan. 18th 2025, my family and friends went to Osaka (Gilbert) to recognize my 60th birthday & more importantly to commemorate 1 year since my husband, the love of my life, passed from pancreatic cancer. Our reservation, which had been made 2 weeks in advance, was at 7pm & required a standard $100 large party deposit. That evening, our entire party had arrived and were standing in the crowded lobby/bar area about 10 minutes early. As is typical for a Saturday night, the restaurant was very busy so we all understood that despite having a paid reservation, there might be a reasonable wait to be seated. No problem, right? WRONG!!!!! 26 adults & seniors WAITED FOR OVER 1 HOUR just be seated for dinner! Our experience that night went as follows: 6:50 pm - Party was checked-in w/ the "hostess" for our 7:00 pm reservation 7:05 pm - "Hostess" Grace said they needed a few minutes to clear tables 7:20 pm - Checked in w/ "hostess" Grace again to ask why the tables we were told were being cleared for our party had been given to other patrons. Her response was to roll her eyes, dismissively tell me that "they were working on it", then walked away in a huff! 7:35 pm - By this time my guests are getting justifiably upset with the situation, so I approached "hostess" Grace again to ask to speak to the manager to find out what was going on! With a SMUG SMIRK ON HER FACE & A CONDESCENDING TONE she snapped back at me & said "We're very busy so you'll just need to wait until we can make room for you!" NOW I'M PISSED! I demanded to know name but instead of telling me, she SMUGLY replied "It doesn't matter" then walked away! 7:40 pm - I asked the bartender to get the manager for me. 7:45 pm - Manager Sky came to talk to me, then worked on making room for our party at the teppanyaki tables. 7:55 pm - We were FINALLY seated for our 7:00 pm reservation! 8:00 pm - 9:10 pm - The following failures continued: A less than entertaining teppanyaki show by comparison to others 2 guests ordered off the dinner, rather than teppanyaki menu & were served after the teppan service was over. 1 of those 2 guests received the wrong order 2 of those 2 guests received her order so late that I shared my dinner with her. 2 other guests offered to pay for my dinner but rather than the working it out, the server charged BOTH guests for my meal! Since I put my $100 deposit down 2-weeks in advance & my bill was paid, rather than refunding it back onto my CC card as was promised when I made the reservation, manager Sky would only give me a restaurant credit. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE??? I...

So I feel really bad having to leave a negative review because we REALLY wanted to like this place. I wanted to bring my partner here for his birthday and we had been so excited. We came on Thursday (6/19/25) thinking it wasn't going to be super crazy... We were wrong it was a mad house, but you know they were doing what they could. So first issue, we came as a couple and they sat us with a family of 7. 2 adults and 5 kids under 10. Usually would never have been an issue but we wanted something more adultish so whatever it was fine. Second issue, So my partner is a vegetarian and we had asked our server before hand if there was anyway we could get the fish and stuff cooked separately or before they used the stuff for meat because fish and shrimp cook faster and he said yes they can do it in the kitchen. Cool fine when our chef came out everything was thrown together on the grill and same utensils were used to cross contaminate everything. So right away we asked our server about the situation and instead of helping fix the issue he hands us a menu so we could order more food and spend more money because they didn't communicate it better. My partner had to go talk to the manager, She was really helpful in correcting the situation but it wasn't helpful when you have to sit there while your food gets cold waiting for your partners food to come out. Third issue, By the time it did come my food was just not good. We had ordered all seafood and as soon as we tried it it was very fishy tasting like we have seafood a lot and when its got that extra fishy taste YKIYK. We just were done with it at that point. Everything with tip came out to be like a 100 dollars. OK so usually that would be no issue except that is A LOT of money to go somewhere you think is going to be nice and it ends up like going to chili's or Applebee's. And I wasn't looking for like a 5 star restaurant but from the pictures and the 4.5 star reviews it seemed like it had potential. We are just disappointed because something that was supposed to be fun and cute was just the total opposite. Unfortunately we will not be coming back. Spending 100 bucks way more of a waste than what we thought was going to be a fun birthday dinner. If you do come here just go in expecting the worst so at least that way if its better then you won't be so...

I had a reservation for seven we sat at 7:01/7:02, at 7:03 the waitress came over and we had barely sat before she was asking us to order (mind you we hadn't even opened our menus) and when we said "we barely sat down" she countered with "well these people have been waiting and have ordered ". I feel that's super rude especially since I had not even been 5 minutes at that point. Then she went to the other side of the room and death stared us while we discussed what we were ordering. After that we had a manager ask us if we were ready to order yet and she said the same "well these people have been waiting." Again. We had barely sat at first. When the food did arrive he was asking us what we ordered one by one but the birthday music and drums were going so we could barely hear him, and just had to nod. We got the Osaka dinner for two between me and my grandma, we paid extra to get filet mignon for both of us on top of what we already paying for it. She got shrimp, I got scallop. The filet mignon we ordered medium rare for both of us. He cooked all of the meat at the same time which was well done. Once we got our meat it was dry and cooked the whole way through brown. It was already dry by the time he was finished. He also overcooked my scallops to the point where it was just rubber and My grandma and my dad both got shrimp, and he gave my dad most of the shrimp while my grandma got maybe four pieces? She also got two of my scallops when she had not ordered scallops herself. I had to give her all of the shrimp that he gave me again, I didn't get shrimp she got shrimp, and even then it wasn't a full portion compared to my dad. The vegetables were still raw when we finally werr served them. When we got the birthday cake she did not give us any cutlery or plates and our plates and stuff had already been taken so we had to eat the cake by hand. For what we paid this attitude and treatment was just abhorrent and we are not...

It is too loud inside this restaurant for us most of the time. We ordered take out today and when I showed up and gave my name, the blonde hostess girl told me they were "just finishing it up in the kitchen". I stood next to the counter (within about 2 feet of her as the entrance was crowded with people awaiting their tables) and waited... And waited... And waited... Eventually, I moved back in front of the counter and saw some bags on the "to go" shelf. I thought there was no way this was mine, as I had already checked in with my name and she knew I was there waiting, right? I stared at the bags, pondering about why I hadn't heard any name called out (not just mine, but nobody's). She noticed me staring at the bags and suddenly she also seemed to notice that it might be my order. Sure was! My suggestion is that they call consider calling out the name on any order that comes up... Especially if they know that person has checked in with them! I really hope the tip I gave with my order goes mostly or partially to the kitchen and not to these girls. That all said, I doubt we will order again anytime soon, but why the heck is the spicy tuna so red?? It looks like a soggy clump of ground up hot cheetos. Nasty! I've never seen such a thing. I'll post a photo of my weird red tuna next to some normal color salmon mix from another roll. You be the judge about whether bright crayon red chunky ricotta textured "fish" is something you think of when you think of sushi. I assumed both would be actual pieces of fresh fish and not... Whatever those are. Do yourself a favor and go to an actual sushi restaurant.

I have loved Osaka for years. The Teppanyaki experience is always fun and the food is top notch! However, over the last couple of years, their service has gone downhill exponentially. In particular, they rush their guests out so it feels like a frenzied experience instead of a nice dinner out. Let me expand on this by providing a timeline of what happened when I dined at Osaka this past weekend (we took note of the times throughout the evening because we had been rushed during previous experiences). We had reservations for 7:00 p.m., and we arrived shortly before that. We were not seated until 7:28 - nearly a half-hour after our reservation time. The chef arrived for the show at 7:44 and finished at 8:05. He left the table by 8:08 after cleaning the grill top. Two minutes later, the server dropped the birthday and anniversary desserts at our table. I had barely eaten a couple of bites of my dinner when this dessert arrived. By 8:17, the check was dropped off at our table along with to-go boxes as I was still trying to enjoy my food. During our meal, our server never refilled our waters or checked if we wanted to order another drink (my friend did!). At no other restaurant would you receive your dessert only moments after receiving your full meal. And how rude is it that you're handed/offered a to-go box while you're clearly still eating?!?! The prices are indicative of a nice restaurant, but their actions are similar to a fast-food joint. Definitely go to experience the show and their delicious food, but know that you'll receive sub-par service and feel like you need to inhale your meal.
