Terrible Chinese food. One of the worst I ever had. I moved here from Jersey and used to drive all over NY and NJ for work and eaten at countless Chinese restaurants some even hole in the wall establishments and they are leaps and bounds better than Dragon Wok! I even spoke to the owner and he pretty much admitted that he just puts out cheap product/food because most “Americans” don’t know the difference or any better. What an insult!! He assumed that because I am Asian I would relate to his terrible attitude and views. Not knowing the only thing I have in common with him is I look like him. I was born and raised in Jersey and 100% Americanized and took offense to what he said to me and my wife. I like to eat out and spend money at good restaurants but when we come across an establishment that does not care about its customers or the quality of food they put out it pisses me off to no end. I will make sure to let others know not to waste your time and money there. The meat they use is so cheap and subpar that it doesn’t even look or taste like meat. We didn’t eat any of the appetizers as it wasn’t even edible! So cheap! One of the ladies even asked why weren’t eating it and I just ignored her since I was already annoyed and don’t usually make a scene or big stink about things. Then the owner comes later and when I told him we came from Jersey and asked him about the food he started up with excuses instead and recommended I go to another spot in Mesa across from H-Mart for better Chinese! What?! How pathetic. So you don’t care to keep a new customer and recommend them to go elsewhere for better Chinese?! Although he was professional and courteous he felt that because I was Asian, he was more comfortable telling me the “truth” about his foods and where else to go. Pretty sad. He had no clue that we could’ve been food critics or chefs or even a Google reviewer and assumed we shared his same views. Too top it off their prices are outrageous. For the two of us our check was $84.00. And that’s exactly why I am putting this out there. Any good business owner knows that you should always listen to your customers and can learn from them and you never know who might be eating at your establishment. Take their opinions and advice seriously if you want to keep new and existing customers by producing quality food and service. Such a shame. Needless to say we will never return. Sadly we have yet to find a good Chinese restaurant in AZ and a lot of people we talk to seem to have the same opinion. I would rather eat at PF Chang’s,Pei Wei...
Read moreFirst off I would like to say I only tried this for the positive reviews, and tried to approach it as a food critic. First impression was good the place was clean and inviting. Once seated I got service right away and ordered hot tea. The tea cake fast and was hot, however in the pot was 1 small tea bag which was hardly sufficient for a pot of tea so the tea was extremely weak. I went to put some sugar in the tea only to discover all the sugar packets were hard as a rock and did not melt(?). I asked the hostess to get me some other sugar and ALL that she found were the same way. So that was the end of sugar in my weak tea. I scanned the menu to decide soup or appetizer, prices are very high and they only had 3 kinds of soup, wonton egg drop and sweet and sour, so I decided to try an appetizer, unable to make a choice I chose a sort of pu pu platter. This had 1 beef stick(rubbery) 1 spring roll (oily glop) 1 crab puff ( cream cheese only) 1 fried wonton (filling so small it was a joke). Ok now for the main corse. Pung Wok (chicken, beef and shrimp. (I asked if I could substitute onions for jalapeños pepper but was told they don’t have any). I also asked no onions or celery but when the dish came out it was MOSTLY onions and celery. I ordered this dish because it had water chestnuts, there literally was 2 in the entire dish. The chicken had a very strange texture like it was boiled then pan fried. Same with the beef, the shrimp were a decent size but there was only 3. Also the White rice was cold and dry when served. Oh while I was still eating the server dropped the check off, never asking if I wanted anything else. My check was $27.98 plus tax $2.18, $30.16
I would not have paid $2.00 for this meal Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else. Save your money this place SUCKED!!!! (I’m still trying to figure out why the sugar packets were hard as a...
Read moreWe were disappointed in our recent experience on Saturday 9/15. We have been to Dragon Wok at least 10 times previously over the past couple of years. We have in the past liked to order a mai-tai to start our dining experience. They were delivered, and were not up to par - tasted pretty like tart pineapple juice, with no rum flavor evident. We went the drinks back, and when they were re-delivered, I could see a very small float of Meyer's Rum had been added. Still, my wife and I were not satisfied with these drinks, and we told our waitress that we would prefer to order something else. She sent the "manager" (actually, she is the wife of the owner) over, and she informed us that these beverages were prepared as they always are - so no apology, and no "would you like something else." So, I said that we did not want the Mai Tais, and respectfully asked for a beer, and a glass of plum wine for my wife. From this point, it went downhill. I had to ask for water, and this was delivered by the busboy. Our egg rolls were of very average quality - not piping hot, and somewhat mushy. Our entree - Tri Star Seafood (Lobster tail, shrimp, scallops and vegetables) along with brown rice was also delivered by the busboy. Nobody ever checked back with us to see how our dinners were. The lobster tail was a big disappointment - not much flavor - kind of mushy. We managed to get our waitress, who had pretty much ignored us throughout our dinner, to bring the check. At least they did not attempt to charge us for the Mai Tais. I spoke with the owner's wife on the way out - she was behind the bar, and told her that we had a very poor experience, and shared most of the above-mentioned detail with her. The best she could summons was an unenthusiastic "I'm sorry." We do not plan...
