Fifth St. Coffee Roasting Co. — Restaurant in Gilroy

Been here the past two days, super disappointed both times.

First day, Iced Mexican Mocha, chocolate shavings we’re not melted in the drink, coffee was weak. It made the drink taste gritty, just not well made.

Today, I get a pour over black coffee. Nothing added with Ice on the side. I’ll take a few sips then make my usually very strong coffee and make it iced.

The pour over was weak, like they didn’t add enough beans in to make it proper strength. I worked at this same place 20 years ago, and worked coffee after that for almost ten years.

If you love good, strong, we’ll made coffee beverages, DO NOT GO HERE.

The staff ( darker haired women, red head guy) were cold at best, and seemed annoyed by any requests I made, if you don’t like what you do, hire someone who does, or at least fake it.

This is my second time at Fifth Street Coffee Roasting Co, and it’s just as great as I remembered. I first stopped by three months ago while visiting a client in Hollister from the Bay Area—and now it’s officially a must-visit whenever I’m in town.

The coffee is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the handmade pastries (crafted by the owner!) are absolutely delicious.

A special shoutout to Dulce, who helped me both times. She’s not only gorgeous and super friendly, but also incredibly patient and professional—even when the line is out the door. She recommended the coffee cake this time, and it was soft, spongy, and insanely good.

Dulce is a true gem and a staple of this coffee shop. Her positive energy and skill behind the counter make every visit memorable.

Stopped by for a coffee and dessert after the Mushroom Mardi Gras in Morgan Hill.

The place is really cozy and has a nice vibe. There is an area next to the bathrooms with a large table and a small library. It is relatively isolated from the rest of the coffee shop and great for working or studying. There also is some window seating with comfortable bar stools right by the entrance in addition to a few regular tables and armchairs. Certainly has a cool character.

On a Saturday, the coffee shop was almost empty, but it still took baristas a while to make my cappuccino. It turned out to be pretty good: not too much foam and flavorful coffee. The cherry pastry I got was not good, probably sat there since Friday as it was a bit stale and lacked freshness. I would come back for coffee and atmosphere, but stay away for...
