o this is a weird post for me giving it a one, due to the fact this restaurant has pretty good food. If I was just rating the food I'd give it a 4 star. Sushi is good, dumplings are good and they have good variety. Reason for the rating is I agree with other reviewers that it is a bit pricey. My main problem is they are never open! We live right around the corner and have tried to go 3 different times during their 'business hours' and they are either closed, or theres people in there eating and we were turned away. The last time we went we walked in and waited to be seated. When we went in the place was packed but there wasn't a wait. The server came up to us and said they were closed. My husband got so mad he just immediately walked out, and I stood there confused while the waiter apologized. According to their sign on the door they closed at 9:00pm, and it was only 8:10pm. As I said there was a ton of people in there eating, so I got the impression they just didnt want to serve us in case it went past their closing time. If that's the case they need to close at 8 and lock their doors. We had been two other times before this where the sign on the door said they should be open but they were closed. So as I started this review my opinion of the food was from a carry out order we had once. Since then all 3 times we tried going during hours and were turned away or they were closed. Not sure how that's good business, so because of that we stopped trying to give them...

When the waitress returned back, we ordered our drinks and food all at once, as we already suspected service was going to be slow. My meal was then brought out to me.. but only my meal. We also had not yet received our drinks. Around ten minutes later, we finally got our drinks (we ordered water). My family member had yet to receive their meal. about 30 minutes later, they finally got their meal. It's about 7:30pm at this point, and my family member finally got their ONE sushi roll. Since I waited for my family member to get their meal before I started eating my food which had made it to the table 30 minutes prior, my meal was extremely cold and not enjoyable. FINALLY, we were completing our first bite, when a worker came up to us saying if we would like anything else us, to tell them now as they were closing the kitchen. Half way through my meal, they start turning off all the lights around us, surrounding me in darkness. I tried to eat as quickly as possible as I was now feeling uncomfortable. At this point, I'm still not done with my food, and as I'm taking a bite, a worker comes up saying if I would like the check. I just gave up. I stopped eating and paid the bill. We walked out of there very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo the food was well done. I genuinely enjoyed my meal which was a combo. Salmon teriyaki was fresh and crispy, tempura was airy and light. My boyfriend's food was just as good. The Takoyaki was something that reminded my boyfriend of his visits to Japan and was very authentic. Having a place that can offer such authentic unique Japanese cuisine is admirable in little old Gilroy. But this place with a blessed sushi chef team and wonderful chef in the back is all over shadowed by my poor exlerience. The service was so bad here that it is more than enough to never come back. If you're the type that does not care if you and your dates food comes at two separate times within 10 minute intervals, you don't mind never being greeted or given a menu until it's notice much later. And your just laid back enough to ignore it all. And you might have a good dining experience here. I will stick to...
