I just wanted to show my appreciation to this establishment.
After experiencing a FULL day filled with emotion and remembrance, sustenance (and also a bathroom) was calling. After searching for a few moments, KOKORO was the victor, and I'm so glad that choice was made.
The young lady hostess (I believe her name is Tammy) was so sweet and patient, because it took me a WHILE to decide on what to order 😫 I settled on the Creamy Chicken ramen, while my friend ordered the Karaage Don bowl for himself and a gyoza appetizer for both of us.
The gyoza arrived, (you can choose how you want it prepared, we had it fried) and it was warm and tasty, and the dumpling itself was my preferred level of crispy.
For the beverage choices, my friend had a strawberry boba tea (I've never had boba, I may try it one day) and after listening to the plethora of hot tea options, my ears perked up at GRAPEFRUIT (I have NEVER heard of that being a tea flavor) and I was NOT prepared for the glorious flavor I experienced after my first careful sip. I asked if I could buy a box of the tea bags, but they make the tea fresh daily in house 😫
The entrees arrived, and my Creamy Chicken ramen was so delicious...Jenny (the owner) came over to see how we were doing (I think because she saw i was trying to figure out if what I was staring at was mushrooms or not... it was 😄) ... but yes, back to the ramen... it tasted like a warm hug. It was so satisfying in the spring, I know it MUST taste heavenly in the cooler months. My friend inhaled his chicken and rice while I devoured my bowl.. I've had ramen a few times before, but this is the FIRST time I completely finished the ENTIRE BOWL, including the broth.
Yes, as you can see from this (unintentionally) lengthy review, the food was absolutely delectable... but what really got me was the genuine kindness and generosity of the beautiful people that work there. It touched me after the full emotional day I had, and I'm grateful to be reminded that people like that still exist...they just happen to make top notch ramen (and shockingly succulent grapefruit hot tea 😎).
And yes, I WILL...

The creamy chicken ramen is gloriously full of textures and flavor while both comforting and soothing without being spicy or bland It was one of those food experiences where you know you can't go back to what you used to have. I wasn't sure about the ramen I rarely eat a soup and even less often do I enjoy it at all but this hits different notes of flavor it doesn't even seem like soup just a tasty sauce. Everything blends like art. The lovely mushrooms, bamboo shoots, corn, scallion and shallots saturated each noodle with taste plus a velvety rich soup broth. The chicken was not lacking in flavor or texture. The scent is fantastic. Their marinaded eggs are always perfectly jammy in the middle and soft and well seasoned on the outside. It's a true pleasure to eat here. The service is amazing. They are all nice at Kokoro.
Karaage don my sister got for me a different day while also delicious was a bit too zesty for my sensitive stomach but I thought it was a fantastic mix of flavors and balance. I may not order it again because it was too zesty for me but if you enjoy a lot of zip and a very zesty flavor this may be a dish to love. After the creamy chicken ramen though I didn't care to try anything else it is familiar enough to feel approachable and safe but exciting enough for me to eat it regularly. I will probably eat the same dish for years to come as I tend to find a favorite and eat it often for a year before eating to...
Read moreI came here for lunch after work and was not disappointed. I got the “One Mind One Heart” lunch special and chose the Karaage don and a peach green tea (with mango popping bubbles for a slight upcharge).
Upon receiving my order I was worried about the portion size, but after eating I found it to be the perfect lunch for me. The Karaage wasn’t too oily and the rice was well cooked. I appreciated the spicy mayo garnish they added and the boiled egg was very yummy. The tea is pretty standard but definitely a good addition to the meal.
Service was very attentive and they brought me a spring roll midway through my meal free of charge which I really appreciated (unsure if that’s a regular thing they do but still).
The restaurant is clean and simple, but my only complaint is the music volume. For a smaller restaurant it’s a bit on the loud side but I have sensory issues so your mileage may vary :)
EDIT: I also really like how the specify what broth is in each ramen as someone who does not eat...
