Alright let me rant and rave about my FAVORITE Mexican Bakery in Arizona! La Fama is an awesome local gem located in old downtown Glendale. It has become a family tradition of ours to stop at La Fama every time we visit our relatives at the cemetery.
MUST TRY: The green chile is the best I have ever had, and I make sure to get a green chile burrito each time I come here. It is very hot, so make sure you have a drink handy when you're eating it! The tortillas are made fresh every day in the bakery and are slightly undercooked so that you can eat them very soft or warm them up at home and not have a hard tortilla. The best is to get them while they are still warm from the stove. Tamales are some of the best in town and definitely will not fit into any type of healthy eating plan. They are very greasy and equally delicious.
Other delicious favorites: I love the cochitos (pig shaped molasses cookies) that are so soft they melt in your mouth. Another delectable choice are the conchas (pan de huevo) that come in white, yellow, pink, or brown. After that any of the cookies are authentically made and quite good, as well as the empanadas.
DO NOT MISS this bakery if you are in the area and it is open. You will...
Read moreThey have the best Flour tortillas which are made fresh everyday in their bakery. My second favorite item are their durros(chicharrones)(pork skins) which are also made in their bakery everyday but get their early because they never last. They are that good. Their Mexican sweet bread is amazing. they have marranitos, empanadas, conchas, Mexican cookies, and semitas. They carry other kinds of Mexican sweet bread but too much to name. I highly recommend this bakery to anyone who is passing by downtown Glendale in AZ. My family's tradition is to go there every Saturday morning to purchase some sweet bread, durros, and tortillas to have as a part 1 breakfast with some coffee. Part 2 of our breakfast would be some eggs with homemade chorizo made at El Gallito Carniceria. We buy enough sweet bread so that we have left overs for...
Read moreGood when its good! I really dislike the inconsistency. Quesadillas are often shorted and sold for the same price as a full one. Idk if they are being lazy, trying to save money, or if no one is on the same page. Some workers will make you a half quesadilla (1 tortilla folded in half) and some will serve you a full quesadilla (two tortillas) but still charge you for the full size even if they make you a half. Seems messed up. I love when Sam serves me. He always serves me with a smile and charges me correct for a full quesadilla. Please get everyone on the same page! If you do have half quesadillas you should advertise that and adjust the price to...
