East Lake Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Gloucester Township

The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food did arrive hot when it was delivered! But their appetizers are terrible! The wonton soup, fried wontons, egg rolls, shrimp rolls and crab rangoons! I don’t know how they’re still in business??? The crab rangoons were “empty” with no cheese, the fried wontons were so awful I had to throw them away, the wonton soup tasted terrible, the egg rolls were greasy and horrible and the shrimp rolls were greasy, horrible and there wasn’t any shrimp inside and the one shrimp that I did find inside was “tiny”! Even the noodles for the wonton soup were greasy and tasted funny! I spent $140.00 and they hardly gave me any sauces and they didn’t give me “any” fortune cookies! Horrible, I love this Chinese restaurant, great food, great services, great everything but today was just horrible. Whenever I call, I only say “jumbo shrimp” since that’s what I usually do and was taught. I didn’t know there were more kinds of shrimps. This lady started yelling at me, telling me what kind of shrimp, I then said if they could name some and they did except I couldn’t understand what she was saying and only understood “shin in” and that’s what I ordered because she was already mad. I was ready to hang up but decided not to. I’m young so I’m new to all this. Still upset but I know that this restaurant can do better. Will still order from here, just not much like I used to do due to me being very upset. I love the people here, they are friendly but this 1 certain lady...

It looks and functions exactly like I expect cheap Chinese takeout to, except for the fact that the food was practically flavorless. If you are the kind of person that thinks black pepper is too spicy and you're being attacked when someone puts something with a strong aroma in front of you, this is a great place to eat. Otherwise, I suggest you order from the next closest Chinese takeout place. I ended up making lo mein from scratch the next night because the pork loin mein we got was the saddest, blandest pile of noodles I've ever been handed by a fellow Asian and I had to wash the memory of it out of our mouths.
