A Hidden Gem Worth the Detour – Authentic Mexican Flavors in NJ Coming back from a weekend in Atlantic City, we stumbled upon a Mexican restaurant that turned out to be the perfect ending to our trip. From the moment we walked in, the service was nothing short of exceptional—warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly staff who made us feel right at home. But the real star of the show was the food. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Even our picky eater was impressed—devouring the “real” chicken tenders, which were clearly homemade and cooked to perfection. As for me, I couldn’t stop raving about the Lengua Tacos—tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. Each bite reminded me of the kind of authentic street food you only hope to find when you’re far from home. This place isn’t just a great stop—it’s a reason to come back to New Jersey. If you’re anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won’t be disappointed. Gracias por una experencia deliciosa.

Don’t let first impressions fool you. This was a funny experience for my wife and me. First off, It is a true hole in the wall in a so-so section of Blackwood. But we like those types of restaurants. The first thing the waitress says to us is, “we don’t have any menus, we’re all out.” 😂 Haha wait what?? A restaurant is all out of menus?? I’m so confused right now. There was one menu left and it was hanging up above the front counter. So we took picture of it and sat down to view it. It was taco Tuesday so that was a no brainer. We ordered one plate of carnitas and the other chicken, with a side of chips and guacamole. All of it was very good. We were truly impressed. And the waitress was very attentive and friendly. So we’re big fans of this quirky, yet tasty dining spot. 👍😂

This was the most terrible Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. I should have known when they asked if I wanted fries with my burrito. The sauces were watery and the salsa tasted like it came out of a can. Nothing tasted fresh. The shrimp were severely over cooked. I’m not sure exactly what was in the burrito. It said it was supposed to be rice, beans, cheese and sour cream. But if you look at the picture, you’ll see that it doesn’t look that one. My sister in law sent her food back because it was disgusting, she was still charged for it. They don’t care about customer experience at all.

The young girl at the register was very rude, unprofessional, and lazy. It seemed as we were a bother as soon as we walked in. When taking our order she made a few comments regarding the price of inventory, and made a rude comment when I was asking my fiancé what type of wrap that I liked. She asked if I wanted flour or corn. I looked at my fiancé and asked him which one I liked. She interjected by saying “how would I know, I asked you.” The food was ok, but definitely over priced. There was no sour cream in the burrito. We asked for sour cream when she brought it, it was in a dirty squeeze bottle that looked like it came from a trash can. The atmosphere was dirty, outdated, and need of a remodel. My fiancé met the owner and his wife at an event, very nice people. When we asked the girl, with blue hair, about him she informed us he was her father, and began to disclose family business, more like family problems. Definitely not what I would expect someone to say about their father or brother, specially to strangers. We will not be returning, totally...

My son tried the burrito bowl Which he said was very good but thought chipotle’s was a bit better. I had the home made hard beef tacos/4. They were very good and the salsa verde was a perfect topping. The tacos could have had a bit more stuff inside and I should have asked for xtra cheese. The only issue was them transported in a styrofoam container kind of made the taco shells a bit soggy. The flavor was very good and I would order them again. My husband had the enchiladas and LOVED them. He would definitely order them again but we want to try other menu items. The price was decent and we didn’t feel like making our own Mexican food that evening. We did enjoy our meals for the most part and would eat there again. Maybe dine in next time to taste the food right as it comes out...
