The Rhumb Line Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Gloucester

My daughter and I stopped in here after spending the day on the beach. We found it on a Google search. It looked promising, if not a bit of a dive. We were starving and hoping to eat as quickly as possible. We were in the wrong place for that. We saw that it was more of a bar than a restaurant but were hopeful anyway. We sat ourselves and waited about 5 minutes to be acknowledged, then were given water and ignored for over 15 minutes. I managed to get the attention of one of the (apparently only 2?) servers and she started walking over to us but then detoured to stand and talk to two men at another table for another 5 minutes. It was apparent she was more interested in talking than taking our order. We ended up walking out and finding a wonderful place to eat. I would never set food in here again. I might note we were the only people at any of the tables aside from the 2 men who the waitress were so interested in. They were not eating. Just drinking. I guess you get great service if you are drinking. Not so much if...

Went in to the bar. Waited a bit and wasn't greeted. So i spoke up, and bartender said i can sit anywhere. So i sat at bar. Bartender barely spoke to me. So i ordered a couple of drinks. She rarely checked with me to see how i was doing, as she kept walking by me over and over even when I made eye contact. Most of the time i tried speaking with her she gave me very curt short answers and walked away even before i could finish my sentences. Too bad i was such an inconvenience trying to chat and get to know the place better seeing that I live nowhere close to Gloucester. In the end i had to wait almost 10 mins to pay my tab. This is sad, cuz the reviews were excellent and i was looking forward to a great evening that was unexpectedly cut very short. Won't be stopping by there...

Have to say it was quite disappointing to drive 20 miles to see some great music, but get no supper. I figured getting there around 730, 745 would be plenty of time, since music was on til 900. I got there about 740, sat at the bar, took about 10 minutes to get a beer, while bartender had to deal with an unhappy customer at far end of bar. finally got my beer and placed my order quick because I was hungry, about 7:50,. at 8:05 manager tells me kitchen is closed, offers to comp my beer.

Who closes a kitchen at 8:00 with a room full of customers and no other explanation? This place was a regular music & food stop for me for years. I tried to support them but it wasn't worth it.
