Shang Hai House Chinese Food — Restaurant in Godfrey

This was my first time eating here. I ordered the Mongolian beef with fried rice,an egg roll, and a 4 PC of crab Rangoon.. the Mongolian beef had little but bits of meet in it. Smaller than skittles size. I order this everywhere and never seen anything like it. Then there was hardly any beef in it at all. I first tried the egg roll. After the first bite it almost made me sick. The flavor was horrible. So I sat it down and tried the beef and it was very bland since there was hardly any meat to even try. It was mixed with what you could tell was canned veggies. Super soggy. At this point I wasn't even in the mood for any of the food but I tried to eat the fried rice and it was so dry and hard it was like it was on the pan for 6 hrs frying away. I would never in my life recommend this restaurant or go back here myself. Save your money and your stomach and try anywhere or anything else. I'm sure the dumpster out back could provide you with anything...

The wonderful people at Shang Hai House are always able to brighten my spirits, no matter how bad my day has been. I just moved from Vermont recently, and I've been going through some rough times.

When I lived in Vermont, there was this little Chinese restaurant that sold the greatest egg rolls. My wife and I made a habit of getting something to eat there at least once a week. They don’t take debit or credit so that sucks, quite a bit and the dollar general charges $1 for cash back which isn’t a big deal but just sucks. Food was really good, I had the fried wontons and fried rice. Cashier they have working seems very rude to me personally. They were out of sauces so I asked for a couple more.
