Went for lunch on Saturday with a larger group of friends to celebrate a birthday. We had reservations but seemed like it probably wasn't necessary for that time of day, but you never know.
Atmosphere is precisely what I expect and is great. It is a local bar and grill that is rustic feel and not fancy. Exactly how it should be for this place, my favorite part of thing. Free popcorn is available.
Service left a little to be desired. Took a long time to take or drink order and then for our drinks to come out. Took even longer for them to finally take our food order. Then food was slow to arrive as well. Napkins/silverware only showed up after most of us finally had our food and we asked for them. We also were never asked later how our food was. Mind you, it was not very busy when we were there.. Maybe half capacity at best. Although i give only stars for service we had a big group, and sometimes that can make service just not typical. Hoping it is better with a smaller group.
Food: it was decent. Not great. But prices are very reasonable so definitely a value play here. I got the Patty Melt with onion rings. Onion rings were pretty good, not as hot as should be but again, with a big group they probably sat for a few minutes before being brought out. The patty melt was just OK, also just warm. The marbled rye was just basic prepackaged grocery store level and lacked a strong rye taste. The burger was cooked medium rare as ordered but bland. The fried onions on the burger were cut too big and chunky and I prefer they be sliced thinner and cooed a little more and caramelized. The cheese was also just OK, just a basic prepacked slice. I did steal a few tater tots from a friend and they were great.
Overall going with 3 stars. The prices are fantastic which would probably get me back in the door again someday. I have often found that service and/or food quality is not as good when dining with a larger group. So take my review from that perspective. I'll update my review if I ever make it back and have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNew place for us for lunch today. In the area following an appointment an wanted to try. A bit confused finding entry - looks more like a service entrance than a customer entrance but it does sit right off the parking lot. Once inside it reminded me of any large bar in northern Wisconsin with a mix of bar seating, table seating, high tops and semi-circle booths and blond paneling. Took our seat and we were brought menus, a specials and beers pages. Asked and received a variety of recommendations from the server but opted for one of the "Schuller Specialties" that caught our eyes on the menu and not recommended š¤·āāļø The 12 oz Angus Beefsteak smothered in onions and mushrooms with side of mashed potatoes. (Wife chose the same but with fties) We both ordered it done medium expecting a hint of pink. Plates delivered very clean - looked great - sorry, forgot to grab a pic (my bad!). Beefsteak outer was nicely charred then smothered- my mashed were skin-on real mashed! Very visually satisfying! Diving in the flavors were great! Sadly, the cook in this case missed the mark on what 'medium' means. Eating into the center we both found that the Beefsteak was much more of a very 'rare' rating. I tolerate rare and since the flavor was great with the onions and mushrooms I swapped my more done outer edges for wife's rare insides. I did note the cook's temperature discrepancy to the server when paying the bill so hopefully next time......
Overall - looking forward to...

In terms of cuisine, the bar offers a delightful selection of classic American bar food. A standout item is the buffalo chicken sandwich, thoughtfully grilled rather than fried, providing a unique twist to the familiar favorite. The commitment to quality extends to appetizers, with the potato skin dish standing out for its generous portion and satisfying flavors. Complementing the food is a selection of crisp beers, adding to the overall experience.
While the culinary offerings shine, the service provides a mix of approachability and occasional distance. The staff, though friendly, may display moments of reservedness. Despite this, the overall experience at the bar is characterized by its Minnesota charm, from the comforting ambiance to the delicious, thoughtfully prepared classic American fare. Whether you're catching a game with friends or enjoying a hearty meal, this bar offers a genuine taste of Minnesota in both atmosphere...
