Since posting my original review below, I’ve been back countless times and wanted to post an update as I’ve been able to experience more of what Wrigley’s has to offer.
First, it's not just the award winning Pizza and Dogs that are delicious! Everything I've tried is great, I mean really it is! They have FRESH ground meat delivered several times a week from a local butcher for their burgers. Their Southwest Cobb Salad comes with a dressing better than I've ever had anywhere else. It was so good I could almost drink it as a beverage. And the super generous portions of perfectly flavored tender chicken and heavenly tasting bacon made it a gourmet quality salad more than a bar salad. In fact this is definitely NOT bar food. The only thing about the food that is bar-like are the PRICES! On Saturday they have a prime rib special that is the same or better quality of what nice steak places are serving but at about half the price.
I also really didn't do justice to owners in my first review. I was so impressed that they were being out with the customers laughing, interacting, drinking, etc, and that they designed everything around a fantastic customer experience that I missed some of the more “substantive” points.
First, Skip and Betty are really great friendly salt of the earth people, not just great proprietors. Here’s just one example.
They have these $3 a shot specials for a brief time when the live bands are playing and ALL of the proceeds go to Food For Thought. Food For Thought is an organization that strives to eliminate weekend hunger for children by providing 26,000 FoodSacks to 75 different Denver schools. (I also found out that they don’t just send them a check, they actually go and physically do volunteer work as well filling the sacks). Put another way, they provide a way that drinking puts food in the stomachs of hungry kids. How great is that?
They regard their employees as family and treat their customers as friends. Skip was on stage once and thanked the young lady working behind the bar and introduced her as his daughter. She is not biologically, but he explained that she was like family. Service is great there, Probably because there’s a loyalty that can’t be bought with just a paycheck. And Skip and Paula get that.
It’s a great place to visit for so many reasons!! What a terrific place! I've been there several times and felt I had to write this review.
Spending an afternoon with great music by excellent live bands out on a spacious but shady deck on a warm afternoon, surrounded by an amazingly friendly crowd was like a strong cocktail of joy, happiness and peace. You'd don't have to be from Chicago to feel at home here.
The Chicago pizza and dogs are as advertised (best, award winning, etc.) and their signature dessert is a caloric sin that definitely should be committed even by the most devout health fanatics.
And the owners are the best managers/owners of a venue I've ever seen. They are right out there with everyone interacting with everyone, eating, drinking, enjoying the music and experiencing the same thing as their customers. You can tell they had customers in mind by how they designed, built and...
Read moreWe went on a Wednesday (7/9/25) at 6pm. They were pretty busy but there were multiple indoor & outdoor tables open and a few bar spots still open. There are multiple outside covered seating areas so during nice weather, if you're willing to sit outside there's probably open seats available. We took a picnic table outside.
Service: our wonderful server was running! She was top notch and we felt she did the best she could with the number of tables she was covering. She's 5 star. It looked like it was just her covering all the tables, a bar tender for drinks and bar service, and a 2 cooks on. If there were other people working we didn't see them. We saw the owner's happy faces in a pic on the wall when we came in. I think most of us at tables would have had happy faces if they were in there helping staff with the dinner hour rush. NOT our server's fault but the overall service experience is 3 star.
Food: we had da Italian beef w/chips, the Chicago dog w/coleslaw, and a gyros w/fries. We also had da chicken wing appetizer with original and teriyaki sauce. There were 6 large wings - 3 "flappers" and 3 drums, carrot and celery sticks, and ranch dressing. We also got the blue cheese dressing. Both dressings were better than what you usually get with most wing orders. The wings were well cooked and crispy but not overcooked. The buffalo sauce was good like Frank's and the teriyaki was as expected. Overall they were good.
The Chicago dog was pretty spot on. It was a Vienna dog in a poppy seed bun with all the right toppings including atomic green relish along with mustard. Very tasty. The coleslaw was ok, "middle of the road".
The Italian beef was good. It was pretty juicy and the giardiniera was really good. The bun looked like a traditional Chicago Gonnella bakery roll that you'd find at any Chicago beef stand. Overall the beef was better than most but not as good as some. The side of ruffled chips were chips.
The gyros came in a basket with a side of fries. It consisted of a griddled pita on the bottom covered with a generous portion of thicker than usual sliced gyro meat, feta crumbles, lettuce, diced tomatoes and diced red onions. The tzatziki sauce was on the side. Overall it was very tasty but it's not a "pickup and hold" type of sandwich. The tzatziki sauce was thicker than usual but I really liked the flavor and it complemented the gyros. The pita was good with one side slightly crispy from griddling and the other side warm and soft.
Atmosphere: I would say this place falls in the dive bar and grill ranks. It's not fancy and typical of what you'd find in some Chicago neighborhoods. It's down to earth and real, not pretentious. They have live music on Thursday through Sunday and their schedule is on their website and FB page.
If you need a Chicago fix, I would recommend this place and we would go back. Hopefully the service wasn't a representation of what's typical and was just a one off...
Read moreMy husband and visited Wrigley's as it is down the street from our new office. We were in on a Thursday evening after leaving work and brought my service dog with us. When we entered the restaurant the bartenders were less than welcoming and we had to approach the bar to enquire about seating. Jenn was rude to both myself and my husband when stating that dogs were not allowed. I polity explained that she was a service dog and offered proof of training (this is not a requirement). Jenn scoffed and sent my husband and I out to the patio. The waitress we had was wonderful and I mentioned that I have a disability my dog may bark to get my attention if I don't realize I'm about to have an episode. She was polite and understood completely. When it started raining, we moved to a table inside to wait for our food. While we were walking in, I had the start of an episode and as we were in motion, my dog barked once to alert me of an issue I was having. We quickly sat down and she came to sit between my legs and was quiet the reminder of our visit. After watching us come inside Jennifer, the bartender felt it was appropriate to loudly speak about me (not to me) as she served people at the bar. She repletely stated that the dog was not a real service dog because she barked and that it was horrible that we were there. Obviously, this is an incorrect statement as service dogs are still dogs and bark, they are taught to bark only in particular scenarios. In cases like mine, they are trained to meet their owners needs and react in the best way to assist the disabled person. As Jenn clearly was unaware of the Federal Laws that are in place under the ADA, we were forced to sit under the judging eyes of everyone at the bar and listened to Jenn rant for almost 15 minuets. This was more than excessive as my dog only barked the one time and was sitting calmly by my side. Rather than have an uncomfortable dinner, we opted not to finish our food and I approached the bar to confront Jen. I asked why she felt it was acceptable to mock and discriminate against me when I had done nothing wrong and my dog was not causing any disruptions. She scoffed and walled away. We paid full price for food that we did not eat but our waitress did give us the owner Paula's card and said to call in the morning. Jenn laughed and said she was dunk out back and didn't conduct business while or after drinking. We left without further incident and I called Paula the following morning and left a message. To date, she has never...
