I dined solo at Coriander recently, and overall had a pleasant experience, though there were a few things to note.
The atmosphere was lively and busy, with many tables filled. I was seated on a bench-style seat, which was very low and uncomfortable — especially difficult for someone like me with arthritis in my back and knees. I’ll definitely be requesting a regular chair next time for comfort.
The décor was very plain and minimal — nothing particularly eye-catching or worth photographing.
If you're someone who enjoys taking photos of unique restaurant interiors, this spot might not stand out visually. It’s more functional than atmospheric, which may work for some, but I personally enjoy a bit more ambiance when dining out.
Service-wise, the head waiter was friendly and attentive — brought the menu and water quickly. I ordered the cheese-filled naan with garlic, but unfortunately, it came out without the garlic. The food runner took it back, and I waited an additional 10 minutes for the corrected version. Once it arrived, it was hot, fresh, and delicious — very filling! I ended up taking half of it home.
I also ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala (mild), which came with a side of basmati rice. The flavors were spot on — not too spicy, creamy, and flavorful. I couldn’t finish it all, so I took half the chicken home and asked for an extra portion of rice to enjoy it again the next day. They were kind enough to accommodate that request, and it tasted just as good reheated for lunch.
I’d definitely return to try something new — next time with a regular chair and maybe a new...

What they did well: Food was excellent. Flavor was on point. Spice level was good too (though be warned that they have two levels - 1. Mild-medium and 2. Medium-hot (at least that is how I understood it). Mild medium was perfect for me when I usually get medium. (Saag was a little watery for me - maybe this is a personal preference) Staff was kind and courteous when we interacted with them. They took the soups off our bill even though it was our mistake that we didn't realize the soup had meat in it. (The lentil soup at many if not most other places in our experience has been vegetarian). Received the check quickly but didn't feel like we were being pushed out.
Areas of improvement: Samosa plate came out with no garnish - presentation could have been better Wait times after having been seated (around 6pm) - we didn't get water until over 15 min after sitting down, needed to ask for someone to take our order, 10 minutes after taking our order my husband had to ask for his beer and didnt receive it until almost 10 minutes after that, and we didnt receive our main entrees until almost 30 minutes after they took our order.
We were still in and out of there in 1 hour 10 minutes. Maybe they were short staffed? They seemed too busy to attend to their few inside tables as we weren't the only ones who were waiting a while and trying to get their attention as they passed by.
We would definitely go back for the food, and would lower our expectations for service based on our...
Read moreAfter reading other reviews of this restaurant my wife and I decided to give them a visit. I absolutely love good Indian food and am always on the hunt for it.
We arrived early (around 4:30) on a Friday and of course the place was empty. We dined inside and found the place to be quite spacious, clean and nicely appointed.
Our server was quite accommodating and cheerful, even as it took us a spell to figure out what we might eat. We asked for a couple of the chutneys/sauces on the side and they were outstanding. So flavorful and rich!
After a look at the menu I decided on the chicken curry and my wife opted for the Marsala with shrimp. Both dishes turned out to be quite tasty... could have been a bit more generous on the serving size... but not embarrassing skimpy.
When I was asked about the spicy level I said "I like it hot enough to make my scalp sweat but not so hot to burn my lips." ...and that is exactly how my food was served.
The naan was fresh, hot and excellent. The rice was nice and 'fluffy'. The cup of Masala Chai tea was nice and rich (but lacked any real spice taste).
All in all, we got two entrees, naan, two beers, a soft drink and a Chai teal all for about $56 before the tip, which given the quality, we thought to be very reasonable. Again, portions were a wee bit on the small size but we did not leave hungry. Fully intend to give them another visit... and...
