May 12,2024.. For my first Mother's Day without my mom, I decided to order our favorite dish, Chicken Francese, and celebrate with my best friend. The chef, Moe, was so wonderful when taking my order, He was SO very kind to me as I was a bit of a blubbering mess! People like Moe are the reason the restaurant continues to be my FAVORITE Italian spot down here in Florida! Thank you so very much again, Moe! Your kindness, empathy, and the fact that you came out to see me meant everything to me 🙏🏼♥️ An incredible stand-up guy with a genuine heart!!! We need more people like Moe in this world!!!
October 2023 - Mama Mia's has been a staple for my mom and I for so many years. Every Sunday, I would come up to Boynton to visit her, and we would order our food and just spend time together. My mother passed away June 25th, and Sundays stopped being the same. Life in general is no longer the same 💔 My bestie/ adopted sissy Nancy and I decided to go to Mama Mia's and have a dinner in honor of Mama. The staff has always been wonderful, but our server Paula was outstanding. The restaurant was insanely busy, but she made sure to check on us often. The food was delicious, Nancy and I exchanged little gifts, and we celebrated Mama. Our food was so delicious, especially after not having it in so long. I don't have an Italian restaurant down in Pompano that compares to Mama Mia!! We had to go orders as well, which were perfectly timed and packaged to avoid any kind of leakage. I will include photos from our dinner. I miss you more than anything in the world, Mama, and I hope you and Jordan were smiling down on us as we told stories about you and enjoyed our favorite Italian food. 🙏🏼❤️🕊 We had Fried Calimari to share. I had Shrimp Francese and Nancy had Sorrentino. Everything was delicious!
March 2022 - My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. It's always been a great place with great food and a great staff. Today is the 2nd anniversary of my brother's passing, and my mother and I decided to order dinner from Mamma Mias in honor of him. I came in to pick up the food only to be told that part of the order was never even entered, despite it being the FIRST item we ordered. When I expressed confusion, the employee named Gilberto, who had TAKEN the order on the phone, NEVER once apologized or took responsibility for making that error. The other young guy at the register was very helpful. The owner Vinny came over to see if everything was being handled and I explained that I didn't mind waiting for it to be made, but was bothered by the fact that Gilberto was not taking responsibility for his error. Instead, he was saying he thought it was the Seafood Mamma Mia, when that's an ENTIRELY different dish. I let Vinny know that our family has been coming to the restaurant for years and years, and this was such a disappointment on such a painful day and that I'm actually a local guide on Google. It seemed like they were already having some issues with Gilberto. Vinny was very helpful and made sure the mussels came out nice and hot for my mother with NO charge. He definitely made me feel a lot better, and my mother got her mussels. The food was delicious, as always! I'm glad Vinny stepped up to help out.
We had fried calamari, mussels marinara, Seafood Mamma Mia, and tiramisu. Everything was wonderful, and it was enjoyed in the memory of my...
Read moreMama Mia’s was highly recommended by a friend. Our party of three was visiting from Vermont and were excited to try this Italian menu. We called in the late afternoon to make a reservation for 5:30. We were told they don’t take reservations for parties less than five, and they weren’t that busy, so we would be fine to walk in. Understandably, they couldn’t predict that they were going to get rather busy by the time we arrived. When we arrived, there were a couple small parties waiting outside. We promptly went up to the hostess station and put our name in and were told it would be a twenty minute or less wait. Let’s be clear, the wait was NOT the issue. We watched as several more parties came and put their names in or were seated as they were larger parties with reservations. As the time approached a twenty-five minute wait and a few small parties who arrived after us were let in, we went up to the station to ask if they forgot about us or how much longer it might be. To our surprise, they said they didn’t have our name and asked if we had even come to the station initially. Now mind you, we had not moved from where we were sitting, directly in front of the station! As we were talking to the staff, we noticed our name and the time we arrived written down and crossed out! They never called our name, asked us if we had been helped, or if our party was all there. We watched as the three young staff members were constantly confused by names, numbers in parties, and times of reservations. This is NOT a good way to do business; they clearly need more training. No business will be successful with this being the first encounter for diners. After our encounter, we were seated within a couple of minutes. Thankfully, that was the worst part of our experience. Our server, Michelangelo, was friendly, competent, and humorous; even with a party of fourteen arriving! The food was great; we had soup, salad, gnocchi, stuffed shells, and lobster ravioli. We would hate for you to lose business simply because of an incompetent front of house, when your menu is so varied and delicious, and your servers are hard-working and...
Read moreUpdate at the end. I would have liked to have given 4 stars but I thought it might be unfair because of the reasons. Full disclosure, I have only been here once and it was for a takeout pizza. If you live in the area of Boynton Beach and Delray Beach you know finding a truly good pizza is not easy. Don't get me wrong, there are many places with ok pizza. I am in search of the great one. I ordered a half plain and half "small meatball" large pizza, crispy. I am a follower of Dave Portnoy and have been to a few of the places he has visited and rated. We like the same thing in pizza. To be fair to Mamma Mia, I ate a slice in the car when it was fresh (not steamed in the box after the ride home). At first bite of the plain slice I was thinking WOW, this is it. GREAT crunch, thin crust, good cheese to sauce ratio. Even after driving home (leaving the box cracked to not steam the pizza too badly, I found the pizza to still maintain its crisp. The disappointments are: the crust gets thicker as you reach the outer crust and becomes more chewy. I wish they maintained the thickness (thin-ness) throughout. The "small meatballs" were meh, I would not get them again. I am pretty sure they are not made there. I know I will go back there for pizza again, just not the small meatballs.
I just wanted to note that while I was inside the restaurant, the other food there looked great and the people seemed to be really enjoying it. I look forward to going there for a sit down meal and try and actual dinner. The people that worked there were very nice and seemed to give great customer service.
While my first experience was quite good, my second could not be farther from that. My second pizza from here was half plain half mushroom and black olive. There was no crisp at all, anywhere on this pizza. They used whole olives which most just rolled off each slice. I can't believe I am going to say this but there was way too much cheese. The crust was soggy and tore half the slice when taking from the box. Very...
