Sushi Yama in Boynton Beach is a true gem for sushi lovers. Tucked just off Military Trail, itās conveniently located and rarely has a wait long enough to be bothersome ā a major plus when youāre craving fresh, quality sushi without the usual crowd stress.
We always opt to sit at the sushi bar, which is not just a meal, but an experience. The head chef is outstanding ā friendly, professional, and incredibly skilled. He consistently offers spot-on recommendations and prepares everything right in front of you with precision and care. Watching the artistry behind each roll adds an extra layer of appreciation to the meal, and the personal interaction makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit.
The sushi itself? Always fresh, beautifully presented, and flavorful. From classic rolls to more inventive options, every bite is satisfying. And if youāre not in the mood for sushi, their menu has something for everyone. The bento boxes are generous and well-balanced, the sushi boats are perfect for sharing, and their noodle dishes are hearty and comforting.
Weāve been to Japan many times, so our standards for sushi are quite high and thatās the only reason weād say itās just shy of a five-star experience. That said, for local Florida sushi, this place is easily among the best.
Sushi Yama delivers consistent quality and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended, especially if you can snag a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered takeout from their website. Easy enough and ordering system allows you to customize your order. Says order ready in 50-60 minutes, but it was ready sooner (this was day after storm Milton). It was ready just as I arrived to pick it up. Just right.
Shrimp tempura with vegetables travelled well and was very good. The beef drunken noodles were very tasty (I added asparagus and ordered it 5/5 spicy level⦠it was more like a 3/5 spice level and was actually perfect).
My wifeās miso soup was good ( you can order it with tofu, but itās an extra $2 option). Her combo meal sushi and sashimi was very good and fresh. She did not eat the steak teriyaki because she was full and will have it for lunch tomorrow.
The food presentation, especially for takeout, was very nice. They provided forks, spoons and chopsticks. All the expected accompaniments were included.
We ate in the restaurant a few weeks ago with our friends and had a great experience. My only suggestion is to order your appetizers first and then order your entree after youāre finished (otherwise, you could get your food in an unexpected way). The server was pleasant and attentive, checking on us and refilling our water glasses.
We will be regular customers at this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't tell you how happy I am that Sushi Yama is just down the street from me now! I use to love going to the one in Boca years ago but the drive started to become too much. I tried the Boynton one the other night and they did not disappoint. Same food quality I know from Boca and also great service.
I was a table of 4. The server took our drink and food order promptly and answered any questions we may have had. The staff also had really great jokes! For example, we ordered a "happy pancake" and afterwards they would joke and ask if you are you happy now?
We tried a variety of dishes including a fish entree - this was huge! We ordered nigiri pieces as well as a hand roll. The nigiri pieces were fairly large in size. I ordered 2 ikura's and as soon as I saw the size of them, I thought to myself, I should've ordered 1. The uni here was ok. Didn't seem too fresh. We also tried a sushi roll. But my favorite had to be the steak tartare. Loved the flavor over sushi rice.
As a sweet treat, a lot of these items came with a slice of an orange peel. A nice sweet kick...
