Cade's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Gonzales

I really enjoyed a few of the frozen custard treats from here on previous times but have to say that after yesterday I will never return. I ordered a Blue Hawaiian and immediately saw pure white piercing through the top. I thought it was possibly coconut flavor so I continued to keep tasting but after a couple more bites at the top realized that it was just plain old shaved ice. I immediately went back to the drive thru without taking another bite. After another 5 minute or so wait I told the young lady about this. By this time more of the color had bled through the white but she did take my cup and bring it to the back for a couple more moments. When she returned with the cup and also the bottle of syrup the young lady proceeded to pour more syrup on top while explaining to my about how sometimes you won't get color all the way through and how it didn't seem that bad to her. I have had many snowballs in my lifetime and will always expect to have flavor all the way through to ensure that I will return. The problem really lies here, why did she take my snowball out of my view for 60 plus seconds only to return with bottle in hand and to say that " it doesn't look that bad to me". Warning to all that may not know, when a person takes an open food item out of your sight that you are complaining about never expect anything good to come back unless they remake it again in front of you. Like the place having a drive thru. People there are polite and prompt. Quantity and quality of the snowball's and ice cream is very good. I visit Cade's at least once a week !

Haven't been to Cade's since before pandemic. Went there today and got what l normally got a pineapple snowball with a scoop of vanilla icecream. I don't know what thar flavor was but it tasted like it was bad,even ruined the little bit of icecream. I threw it away. I also tried to get an egg custard flavor snowball. They didn't know how to make one. One of the four girls mentioned something about egg and vanilla so l told them to just give me a strawberry snow ball. Don't know what that was supposed to be either. It was cold but not much taste. Threw it out also. Wasted $6 with tip. Don't know if they have changed the syrup they used or the girls didn't know how to make them. Maybe if they paid more attention to what they were doing instead of dancing and cutting up? I came to leave a review on behalf of my 8 year old son. He went in with his dad for an after school treat while I went in the mail shop next door. Once they finished, dad came out and stated that our son was ready to go, but to ask him why. My son then explained that the girls who worked there did not greet the black customers coming in but did the white. Nor did they speak to him and his dad. This is something he told to his dad, but my husband said he didn’t notice it. My son told him okay watch…the next customers that came in were not acknowledged once walking in. They were black. My son told his dad that he was ready to leave out of there at that moment. It’s very sad that an eight year old would notice such blatant behavior by individuals who work in a public setting. It’s absolutely fine to have your preference of who to like/respect or not, but if your doors are open to the public who are willing to spend their money with you, a simple hello...
