It's one of the biggest disappointments I’ve had with restaurants lately. The service was just downright bad. It was a weekday for lunch, and it was 15 minutes to get drinks and an appetizer put in. Sweet tea came back rough; it almost tasted like something hadn’t been rinsed out after soap because it didn’t even taste like tea at all. Char Broiled oysters were completely uneatable, about a tablespoon of minced garlic on top of each one and absolutely nothing else is how they were served, that could just be my personal taste but it was literally like taking a spoon and getting it full of garlic from a jar with zero other flavors. I ordered the Cajun Plate lunch option for my meal and it was kind of the opposite situation mo flavor in anything except the fried mushrooms which were fantastic. Texture was great on all of the fried pieces not greasy and a very satisfying crisp with very bite but just no seasoning whatsoever was used. The Etouffee and gumbo were both fine but very little substance in the gumbo, lots of rice but minimal seafood. Atmosphere is great; charming place as a whole, attached to a hotel but what I would consider to be a business casual level of restaurant. Came on the recommendation of several locals who all named it first on their list of places to eat during our short stay. I t is the kind of place I would like to try again because it looks like it has potential but with so many places to get some really great food close by I don’t know that I would take the risk and give it the second chance the next time...
Read moreThis was my first time going to Mike Anderson's. The atmosphere was ok. The server was really nice. I had some questions about the menu and he made sure that I was taken care of. I guess I was expecting more than what I received. The food was on the salty side, I had the fried fish topped with crawfish etouffee. I would have preferred my etouffee over rice to balance the salty taste from both that and the fish. The oysters were ok. The stuffed potato was a bit dried out. Overall, it's not a restaurant I would break the doors down to get to, but I also would like to try another menu item just to see if my experience would be different. Update: First, I do want to say, that the management team is great at accommodating guests and handling large parties. We did return, this time I tried something different. I went with something simple, because who can mess up anything simple. I had the Shrimp, Spinach, and Artichoke Fish and Dip Appetizer and Catfish Po Boy with fries for an Entree. The Fish and Dip was very runny once I spooned the cheese off and there was no shrimp in the dip. The Fish was salty, the fries were cold and salty but our hostess did bring everyone fresh fries, I declined because I wasn't a fan of the fries. I was disappointed yet again, I didn't enjoy the Po Boy. I just don't think it's for me. The only dish I liked so far is the oysters. They do have nice cocktails and wine selections. So I think I'll just stick to that. It's overpriced...

Now let’s talk about the food—absolute perfection! Every bite was packed with bold Cajun flavors, fresh seafood, and the kind of rich, comforting goodness that Louisiana cuisine is known for. The fried seafood platter was crispy, golden, and cooked to perfection, while the crawfish étouffée was creamy, flavorful, and downright unforgettable. And don’t even get me started on the chargrilled oysters—smoky, buttery, and hands down some of the best I’ve ever had!
But the stars of the meal? The cornbread and the red beans & rice. The cornbread was warm, moist, and had the perfect balance of sweetness and buttery goodness. The red beans and rice? Absolutely incredible—rich, hearty, and full of deep, savory flavors that tasted like pure Louisiana comfort.
The service was just as amazing as the food. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish.
