One of the worst dining experiences of our lives! Me and my fiance went to Nonna's kitchen for our anniversary dinner, my fiance ordered the Chicken Piccata. She took one bite, put her fork down and said Austin this Piccata doesn't taste right and I don't think I can eat it. We called the waitress over and explained to her how she did not like the chicken Piccata and asked if we could exchange that for a plate of chicken Alfredo. The waitress asked if we wanted the Piccata boxed up to take home. My fiance told the waitress that she did not want the Piccata as it did not taste right. I then asked her if we could replace it on the bill with an order of chicken Alfredo instead. The waitress said she didn't know if she could do that, she walked away and returned to our table with the chef. As the Chef was approaching our table he asked my fiance why she didnt like his picatta, she told him it didn't taste right to her. Looking aggravated the chef starts interrogating her in front of the rest of the guests. My fiance's face turned bright red and she started to clam up, so I told the Chef that we were sorry, but she just did not care for how his picatta tasted, it tasted off to her and she was not interested in eating it. The chef looks at her then back at me and says well we are not taking it off of the bill because that is how we make our picatta here and walked away. The chef didn't even apologize or acknowledge the fact that she didn't like her meal that he cooked. My fiance was horrified, she looked at me, apologized for not liking her picatta, and was so embarrassed that she asked if we could just leave. such an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWho woulda guessed that way up in Gorham, amid all the local beer joint/brew pubs, one would find a superb little Italian hole in the wall. We found Nonna several years ago during a visit to the Glen House and Mt. Washington. Tired of the North Conway scene (and not wanting to make the 30 minute drive) we looked northward (and only 12 minutes). We had some reservations at first--Gorham is more known for dive bars and snowmobiling than fine cuisine--but once we entered the place it was all pleasant surprises. Quaint, homey and cozy (small) the place exudes "family restraurant." The menu is surprisingly large and diverse and very creative (like not just veal parmagiana and the like). Everything is fresh and tasty and the portions are ample. They even have a good sized cocktail menu and the drinks are great! This was our second visit and were glad to find nothing has changed (i.e. the North Conway outlet crowd hasn't found and spoiled it). The menu selections may have even grown a bit! Anyhow, even the dessert was wonderful (my wife had the strawberry canoli--home made and fresh). Oh, did I mention the prices are quite reasonable? Worth the trip from North Conway (but please don't ruin the place) Will definitely go back the next time we are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is good, but not great. Super friendly staff. We were disappointed by the bread offering which was 2 small dinner rolls with a plate of olive oil, no seasonings.
The chicken parm left much to be desired. Hardly any sauce on the pasta that accompanied the chicken.
The bayou pasta was amazing, but both meals came out warm, not hot. Not sure if the plates were left out waiting for a server, but it definitely had us wishing the food was hotter. The price for the bayou pasta is quite overpriced for what you get. 3 shrimp, 2 chunks of chicken and several pieces of sausage came out to $28.99 with an up-charge of $4.00 to have risotto over pasta.
The restaurant itself is darling. It felt like dining in someoneās home.
Response to owner:
We counted two chunks of chickenā¦they were good sized and I did say several pieces of sausage. We had salt and pepper on the tableā¦are those the seasonings you were referring to? If so, that is strange for a dipping oil. Not once were we offered more bread. And we shouldnāt have to ask for more sauceā¦it should just...
