It is difficult to find places with well-seasoned or flavorful food this far north. (Cultural I suppose? I am still new to the area.) Darcy's hasn't let me down in that area at all. My first visit included orange cream pancakes, which had amazing, but not overwhelming orange flavor. The texture was as perfect as one can get with pancakes. I also had hashbrowns loaded with veggies and cheese. The oil they use is changed regularly it seems because the hashbrowns didn't have that nasty, old, used for fish and everything else flavor to them. My second visit included lemon-blueberry pancakes and a pecan caramel roll. HOLY MOLY... that roll was huge, soft, excellently flavored, and enjoyed by my family as well as me because I couldn't eat the whole thing. The pancakes did not disappoint at all, either. I tasted my son's chicken fried steak and went on a side trip to gravy heaven. Let me tell y'all- I'm picky about gravy and flavor. I am Cajun by ancestry and grew up in south Louisiana most of my life. (for reference) Their gravy is DELICIOUS. Flavor bursts through with an amazing creaminess. Not too salty or too anything... perfection. The meat is properly tenderized so that you're not chewing for 5 minutes and still waiting for it to break down. Oh! THE BISCUITS!!!! Fan-freakin-tastic!!! I have nothing bad to say about this place. I just wish it was larger so that it could accommodate more people. There is almost always a wait for a reason- the food is DELICIOUS and service...
Read moreNot sure why I waited so long to try Darcys. It's small in size, but the food experience is huge. The biscuits and gravy with the maple gravy was everything you want and more. Flavor packed, not "in your face" heavy and perfect biscuits, lite and held up nicely with the gravy. The Kasper Special was awesome. Great hash and lots of fresh veggies. Both meals stayed hot the entire time we ate, that's rare at any resturant. The ladies doing the serving were amazing, smiling and quick on their feet. They definitely kept the place hopping. The cooks thou I didn't see them, I appreciate the down-home style of food and their speed. Looking forward to my next visit. SEPT 8th, the pumpkin pancakes were fluffy and flavorable, perfect side dish to the #2, the German sausage was wonderful and the kraut was vert good. The servers were amazing and kept the flow moving. Kudos! DEC 8th, OMG moment - the cinnamon bun pancakes are the best! Nice and fluffy and if you close your eyes, it's like eating a premium cinnamon bun, paired with the German sausage, it's an almost perfect breakfast. APRIL 6th, another wonderful meal. The Polka omelet was tasty with the plentiful ham and saurkraut. The best corned beef in all of...
Read moreThis place is amazing, anything you get is the best in town hands down. I went there with a co-worker, who is from Alabama, and he's been disappointed with all the food he's been having in North Dakota. I convinced him to give Darcy's a shot with me, I warned him this place is tiny and there will be a wait time, but it is worth the wait. We waited 30 minutes to be called to sit, and let me tell you he was getting ready to go to another spot but I managed to get him to stay. He ordered the Kasper's special and he said it reminded him of home, he absolutely loved the food and the service. I ordered the #1 and got the cinnamon roll pancakes, it was some of the best breakfast I'd had in a very long time. The service was amazing my coffee never got below half and his pop never got close to the bottom. The atmosphere is amazing, everyone is friendly, and they kind of have to be with how small the place is, because you are eating right next to someone else. The crowd is mostly regulars who are always friendly and willing to talk. Definitely a little jem in this town, if you are just driving through or wanting to try something new this is the...
