701 Thrift — Local services in Grand Forks

Owner was not nice. Asked where something was as soon as I got to the register, when I had the item in my hand. (Hinting at I stole the item) We turned down a couple items upon discovering price and a comment was made that we should have to put them back. A lot of things are not priced so it's unknown what they are especially as she's typing different prices into her calculator than she's saying out loud, and you don't get an itemized receipt. If you were to look at the calculator in any sort of question, she gets defensive and says what, theres tax. If you can watch me shop your store on camera and peeking at me the entire time, I should be able to look at your calculator as your typing in different prices then you're telling me. Sorry, but I will not be going back into that store ever. #get your thrift on? I think its called was way nicer and better experience. And easier on the prices. Plus kids get a free toy in her store.

I can't reply which is pretty unfortunate because I want to ask this lady what the heck she is talking about. NO, she does NOT know me. And people saw me do what? I think this lady is crazy. Lies about what? I'd love some answers on what you're talking about because you do...

Worst thrift store experience I've had as a thrifter took place here. The owner brought on a political conversation at the checkout and immediately upon finding out about my differing political views she and another employee/someone hanging out at the business, both started arguing with me. As a customer in her store, this was an EXTREMELY uncomfortable and ridiculous situation to be put in. I also encourage you to read other reviews as others have reported feeling unsafe on the premises. Safe to stay that I will never be returning.

Also beware as there is likely a gun on the premises as I was shown the owner's gun case.

Prices were not at all thrift store prices, and I didn't even see the cats :(

I am AMAZED at the volume of incredible fines at 701THRIFT store and the great bargain I received! I am also in awe of the owner Paula Valgren whom I met just today. This woman is funny and a kick in the pants, anyway I bought 2 large bookcases from her, then realized that I could not fit them in my jeep. After I made a couple of attempts to borrow a truck and things falling through Paula pulls up to the front of her store with her truck and starts to load my bookcases into her truck, then followed me home to deliver them.
