Skoops Ice Cream & Drive Thru — Restaurant in Grand Haven Charter Township

I live downtown in Grand Haven, surrounded by ice cream options. Some of them are fine, but I usually make the drive to Skoop's. I like this place a lot. Maybe because it reminds me of the ice cream places I went to as a kid. It feels like an old Dairy Treat, it feels more like a local place than the other options in Grand Haven.

I prefer soft serve, so that's what I typically get, but they also have hard serve and they make a great banana split. Their shakes and slushes are worth it.

The staff are typically what you find in an ice cream joint: young teenage kids. The service is fast and friendly. They put up with my dad jokes.

I was SO disappointed with portion size, especially for the price. We had ordered 2 Pup Cups, a large Peanut Butter & Brownie Shake, as well as a small cheesecake flurry with double cheesecake of which we paid on extra for. Maybe I'm just so used to Norm's portions with the same price point, versus Skoops. The small Flurry was in a tiny cup that was 4.5 inches tall & it was only 2/3 full with approximately 5 pieces of cheesecake bits in it and our pup cups were already completely melted when handed to us, because there was a line in the drive thru, and I'm going to assume it was all premade. Not how they used to be at all when I was growing up, going to stick to Norm's...

I ask for birtay cake,, an they are giving ise crem look like birtday cake. It is ok. It was taste like a real deal cake. Very good. I do first test, an then I am say,, wait,, O wow man,, testing like the real., Lady ask me if it iss what I am want'ed? I say,, hey,, iss so good, you do da majicks to food?, so cool,, thank. But in my head I am think I am liking 2 birthday in year,, also I go to mejer for cake toonight for workfren.
