First of all my rating was supposed to be a 3 star not a 2 star so I fixed that part. Now allow me to share. The customer service was 1000%. The facility was 1000% Much respect to Art and his staff. I just expected something different I guess, as far as the food goes anyway. The Carne Asada fries are my wifes favorite. Instead of insulting Art which will never happen, nor give any suggestions to a successful restaurant owner, I can only offer an opinion for Myself. I got american tacos, I don't like the cheese and my idea of extra lettuce extra onions is not the same as the cooks in Art's kitchen. The Mexican tacos were and are always perfect though, everytime. I always visit a place at least three times before I review. That said, I've lived near the border in several cities and my taste fit the authentic mexican food that I got in both Southern California and Southwestern Louisiana better. Not so much in Texas or Arizona. I hope that explains my rating a...

I love going to local restaurants when I do camping trips all over Michigan. I was going to do carryout, but I decided to eat in. They gave me a small basket of chips and salsa while I waited, and that was really good and very nice of them. The tostada was really great. I probably wouldn't choose the pastor again - just a personal thing. The taste was great, but I was not into the texture. It's totally on me. I hadn't tried that option before. Live and learn. The people are super friendly. I took chips and guacamole to go, and that was the best later evening snack back at the state park. I'll definitely be going back when I return to camp. (by the way, the four stars for atmosphere is not a bad thing - it's just a basic place to eat - nothing fancy and nothing wrong). Also, the guy who took my order recommended Chicken Shack in Silver Lake for my next campground evening. I'm reviewing that...

I ordered 2 orders of the steak tacos, one ground beef tostada, and chips with salsa and guacamole. The first thing I tried was the tostada and the ground beef was the consistency of kinetic sand. I don't know if this is a cultural thing or not. it was what I imagine eating cat food would be like, it was pretty unappetizing. I could hardly tell a difference from the refried beans and the ground beef. I tried the chips next and I'm not kidding, hand to God... The guacamole tasted like I threw up in my mouth. I don't know if it was an extreme excessive use of lime or if I was eating far expired guacamole. It was ridiculously acidic. The salsa was alright. The tacos were also alright. It was ready very quick and the service was great. I was just disappointed for how much hype this place gets. For the price, I will not be trying anything...

I ordered the super burrito (al pastor) and was very satisfied. No one would be justified in saying that the portions aren’t worth the coin—this is a lot of food. I’m going to guess that the super burrito weighs at least 2lbs. I ordered for take out and went to harbor island to eat the whole thing in one sitting. It was glorious. That being said, I can imagine another person leaving a negative review for similar reasons that I leave this emphatically positive one: what a (beautiful/delicious) mess! (see photos) Though my order was technically specified as “not wet”, it was in truth, more wet than not. To be clear, I loved it. But I would recommend steering clear of the place if you have heart problems, are on your way to a formal event, or are by some doctrine opposed to using napkins. Service was prompt and friendly, and I’ll certainly return.

TLDR: one of my favorite taco places! I haven’t visited in years, and the elotes en vaso are just as good as I remember them from the past! We had lunch here during coast guard festival in August- yes, I know I’m late. Trying to do better about catching up on reviews! 🤣. We got an horchata and an agua de jamaica, which, I believe was my bf’s first one ever? Possibly? Both were great. We got some chips and salsa, I got a veggie taco and a shrimp taco, he got a steak taco and a sope, and we got sides of rice and beans and elotes en vaso- my faves!! It’s a little hole-in-the-wall place without much seating. My only knock is that there’s not much room to sit and there’s always a huge line- but that’s more my problem than theirs- it just means Arturo does too good of a job! EVERYBODY wants tacos!

Let it be known: this place has great service & friendly folks. They worked hard and made sure we were happy with our order. Just not our jam. Flavors of the meats all seem “off” — just not authentic Mexican seasoning like I’m used to (in Mexico or Southern California). The chicken was just not seasoned at all, so if you like that, no problem. The asada kinda turned my stomach. The chorizo and al pastor both had cinnamon and no spiciness, so it just wasn’t what I was expecting. More flavorful than the other meats, though, so that’s good. TIP —> GREAT BEANS AND RICE! We all scarfed that down, so get a side of each and be happy. my daughter said she wanted to eat them every day!
