We visit grand haven at least one a year for our anniversary and PP has been a must do. Until this time. (6/30/24) We went to order pizza online. With all the charges, service fee, delivery fee, a compulsory tip for wait staff who weren't serving us, a $23 pizza was going to cost almost $40 so we decided to order for pickup. I called and ordered take out. Ordered Italian Stallion and asked to add cup pepperoni. Call taker (male) asked if I wanted to add a tip for waitstaff. I was taken aback so I said I'd add when I picked up order. I was also worried about what would happen to our pizza if I said no. We went to restaurant and each had something to drink while we waited. We tipped the bartender, who actually served us, 20%. When I went to get my TAKEOUT pizza, the young lady informed me she had been told that I was going to add a tip for the wait staff. Awkwardly I said I didn't want to add anything more. The young lady said "Okay, no problem" in a polite way. There was another woman who I assume was a server standing behind her. She looked like she was in her 30's, may 40's, hair in braid (in case management cares to take a look into who it was. We were ticket 97, checked out at 5:15 p.m. today, June 30, 2024. (she had already rudely addressed a couple waiting to be seated.) When I said to the young lady checking me out that I didn't want to add to my total, the other woman (the second woman) scoffed loudly, turned around and gave me a dirty look. In the meantime, a party of six had come in behind me. When I left with my pizza, a pizza I ordered over the phone and was not served to us, the second woman VERY LOUDLY shouted "So rude!"to me. Our pizza, listed on menu as $23 was $30.48 upon check out. There was no added pepperoni, no itemized receipt. No idea why our pizza was $7 more. I looked at the website and apparently there is a $4 takeout fee! so, to recap, be prepared to pay service fee, delivery fee, tip (not just for driver but for wait staff not involved) etc for delivery
for takeout, pay extra fees for some unknown, tips for staff who had nothing to do with your food prep or delivery to you and be publicly shamed if you choose not to. I understood during covid and we were very supportive of service staff, often ordering and paying 100% tips. If you need to charge tips for your staff for takeout orders you should pay them appropriately. No thanks. We...
Read moreToday August 24, 2023 The waitress was pleasant. She really tried but could not overcome the creations being released from the kitchen. The sweet tea tasted like old style instant NesCafe. The lemonades were watered down. When my grandson ordered his Mac n Cheese I noted to my husband that it was from Kraft - the boxed kind. The menu said so. He didn't believe me. Since this was a birthday dinner for my grandson, I ordered the adult macaroni and cheese for myself. I asked the waitress if it was spicy. She said no. When our meals arrived, mine looked like a dog had vomited something mixed with parking lot weeds. My husband said, "That looks terrible!" I explained that sometimes a dish will look awful but will taste great. Well, this $26 concoction was even worse than it looked. It burned from mouth, to palate, down my esophagus and then landed in my gut with a thud. I wondered who the chef was; if he had flunked out of culinary school. The waitress asked if I was enjoying my meal. I honestly told her how awful it was, and spicy. She did nothing about it, didn't tell the short order cooks masquerading as chefs. My food sat there after a few torturous bites. She kindly asked if I'd like a box. I said "No thank you." I later told my husband there's nobody on earth I'd be mad at enough to serve it to.
She gave my grandson a free dessert for his birthday. That was kind.
This over priced, less than mediocre, dinner will truly be memorable. I'll be tasting it all weekend.
My original comment a few years back: Friendly waitstaff. Delicious...
Read moreGreat burger and fries, but not so great service.
Bacon Cheeseburger: Full flavor and great all around. The burger is flame broiled and thus by design a little dryer, but there is still plenty of juiciness to it! You don’t make a burger like this without skill. The bun was a wonderful addition and the slight honey undertone was a great addition. The temp was spot on and so were the toppings.
Seasoned Fries: Great seasoning with a kick. They were thinner (which is my preference) and full of flavor and it had a light crunch. I’d highly recommend it.
Service: We arrived before they opened on a Monday (11 AM) and waited for the doors to open. We were the only ones in the restaurant for the first 20 minutes. We were seated immediately and cheerfully. The service was generally good and cheerful…
…when we had service. The waitress did not check on us all that frequently and took a long time to finally get the check to us. There was another table that was seated and waiting as we were waiting for our check and another couple waiting to be seated. I finally walked around the corner and asked to pay after waiting.
She was on her cell phone texting. Disappointing. This would have been a five star review otherwise.
Atmosphere: Rich wood interior and yet felt like home with all the decoration. The bathrooms were clean, though a little smelly when we stopped.
Stopped yesterday, Monday first thing at 11 AM, which was during the Coast Guard...
