Worst food ever! I ordered take out, went across the street to eat & both buns on sandwiches were completely soaked in grease, soggy, so much grease that they both leaked through... even the bag was soaked & tearing on the bottom. I went back & asked to have them remade. The manager actually got upset & through a fit that I wanted them to be redone. As she was walking away, throwing hands up & making some comment (couldn't hear as window shut by then). When she returned & basically threw food out window, I had asked her name. I was told it didn't matter, she was the general manager. I stated I still wanted her name as she had been completely rude. She said I was rude... guess a completely grease soaked bun is how things are done there & you are a rude customer if you want something of better quality for the money I spent. Anyway, she slammed window on me as I was saying my chicken had no cheese on it. I was like whatever, will get in touch with someone tomorrow. I tried getting someone's attention to ask for a plate, knife & fork... to eat my remade, soggy, made wrong sandwich with but manager wouldn't let anyone go to window. I eventually knocked on window, after a few times honking my horn... even trying to motion I want a fork & knife to eat food with but she stood there staring & used phone to I guess call cops. Do not go to Runza on Locust if want good food & a friendly person. This restaurant isn't worth the one star...
Read moreIt's a Runza. For those that don't know it's a Nebraska thing. The sandwiches for which the restaurant is named after is a sub like sandwich filled with a meat, cheese, coleslaw. I hate coleslaw in most forms, but these sandwiches are good, & flavorful. They make nice little sandwiches you can throw in the freezer in foil, & warm up later. As for this particular store location, upon first "smell" it was very uninviting, very pungent to say least, especially around the food ordering area. The rest of the store in the sit down area was less noticeable. The other thing I couldn't help but notice was 2/3rds of chairs in the sit down area were placed on the tables over an hour before closing, upon looking threw the windows I was thinking to myself is this place even open, then noticed the times on the door, but I still couldn't help but do a double take. Times on door versus chairs on the tables. The cashier who took my order seemed half there, but my order was as I ordered, & when I got it it was fresh. I been to other Runza's & gotten meals of lesser food quality then this place, so at least they got that. Still a far cry from my other experiences at the Broken Bow Runza, & other locations in the Lincoln area. So now you know what to expect...
Read moreI stopped into Runza not knowing exactly what to expect, but I walked out a believer. The Original Runza was the undeniable star of the show, a golden, perfectly baked pocket of dough filled with seasoned ground beef, sautĂ©ed onions, and tender cabbage. Sounds simple, but donât let that fool you, itâs comfort food alchemy at its finest.
Each bite was warm, flavorful, and nostalgic, like something your Midwestern grandma would make if she had a culinary degree. The dough was soft with just the right chew, and the filling was both savory and satisfying without being greasy. Itâs hearty enough to fill you up but not so heavy that you regret it afterward.
Service was friendly, the place was clean, and the menu had variety for when I want to mix it up next time. My only tiny critique? I wish the Original Runza came with a little more filling, it was that good. Still, this place is a gem, and that Runza? Worth the stop and...
