Black-owned!!!
First, I'd like to thank you for hosting this event for us Yelper's, it was greatly appreciated! I haven't been to that side of town in a long time, it's great to see how much it has grown.
From the outside, you can only imagine what it'll look like on the inside, but I was pleasantly surprised when entering. The space was open, and the first thing that caught my attention was the plants. I'm a lover of indoor plants, I feel they bring so much to a space. I love the color scheme as well, it all seems to balance the space and mood. I will admit, I missed the smell of coffee hitting me in the face as I walked in, but there weren't many people there and I'm sure that's why.
From what I'm gathering, this is a coffee-heavy establishment. I didn't see anything that brought attention to their teas or frappes, but I believe I missed that menu due to it being hidden behind two other menus. That should be corrected, I had no idea there was a separate menu until one of the other Yelpers mentioned it, after the fact. I'll take responsibility for that as well, I should have asked. I did mention, that I'm not a coffee drinker, and described a drink that was mentioned in a review when I mentioned that to the young lady. Again, I mentioned I don't like coffee, but what was suggested and what I was served, was coffee. I did enjoy the strawberry sweet foam, but I couldn't get past that and threw it away.
The star of the visit, that dang Croffle!
It was so buttery, flaky, warm, and drizzled with syrup. This was so good, if they were closer, I'd love to stop by and take a dozen to work for a Friday treat. Seriously, you MUST add one to your list when visiting, next.
Overall, I enjoyed this visit and when on that side of town, I'll stop by for a Croffle!
I will agree with my fellow reviewer, that it may be beneficial to hire a second person to help the young lady at the counter. She's so sweet, but I'm sure when busy, things can get a bit uncomfortable for her. That will also free up Billie, he's so proud of his venture and and has a story to tell. Being able to do that without having to go back and forth, would be a great thing for him.
Check them out, and don't forget...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBillie Joe Coffee Co. (named in regard to its founder) is the baristas choice in a coffee shop that Grand Prairie has needed. Located in the south side of central Grand Prairie (right off 161), this calming home away from home is ideal for studying and spending oneās time immersed in a deep study or a game of chess. With its friendly, casual, talkative and warm staff, Billie Joe Coffee Co. is the community ideal for a coffee shop that lives up to the authentic cafe culture found in Europe with a modern-American twist and lively aesthetic for an interior design. This hidden gem is one of Grand Prairieās few keepers that deserves its place in the area. Not to mention the coffee itself! Roasted in store, all the drinks are hand-crafted with an artists affection over dynamic and lively conversation. My personal favorites are the Paris TX Latte and the Whiskey Morning Latte which are described below.
The Whiskey Morning Latte
With simple and understated flavors, this hand-crafted, but regal interplay of flavors act in a harmonious balance of nuance and vibrance. Itās an ideal coffee to start oneās day with or to enjoy on a rainy autumn evening. With a muted citrus spryness that tantalizes the soul, this spirited espresso is meant for the old souls and morning glory-seekers of the world. I personally rate the Whiskey Morning Latte as 5 out of 5 stars.
The Paris TX Latte
Rich in lavender and inter-mixed espresso splendor, this bright and beaming latte (served both hot or cold) is rich in its earthly espresso flavor while exciting and soft in the lavender serving that excites and amuses its enjoyer. Vibrant and down to earth, this contrast and dichotomy of taste and life is the ideal go-to for any enthusiastic go-getter, adventurous youth and artisan. I give the Paris Tx Latte a solid 5 out of 5 stars.
Returning again to the greater focus of Billie Joe Coffee Co. as a store, itās a store that should be prided by all of its community at large. I personally love Billie Joe Coffee Co. and I hope you love it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in town for work, and my friend suggested we stop by Billie Joe Coffee Co.
Actually she insisted, because she lives nearby and she's a raving fan. Now I see why! š
From the moment I walked in, I was taken aback by the ambiance and how cozy the space felt. It looked like there was a lot of intention and thought put into the decor, the plants, even the choice of music. There's a selection of board games like chess available if you're a fan!
Basically I appreciated how inviting the space felt and immediately wanted to dine-in instead of have my food for take out, which is what I typically do.
I love tea, and I was excited to see that they have a dedicated menu with a variety of hot and iced teas available.
After my friend explained how much time and care the owner puts into sourcing his beans in a sustainable way, I knew I had to try the coffee.
My friend opted for a pour over and I chose one of their signature lattes called the "Bella Dolce". It so so good! I also loved the curated glasses they served all of the hot and iced drinks in for dine-in service.
Now their selection of pastries is the thing that took this experience to the next level.
I don't know who they have baking here, but I almost cried when I bit into the cream cheese danish I ordered. It tasted like pure bliss, and it's a true laminated dough (which takes TIME y'all). I was upset that I didn't order another one just to take with me on the plane, because I was leaving that day.
All in all I had a wonderful experience at Billie Joe Coffee Co. The owner is doing a bang up job, and I can't wait until the next time I visit the DFW area so that I can stop by again.
I highly recommend this local...
