ITSO VEGAN — Restaurant in Grand Prairie

Been wanting to try this place for a while, but because I live 50 minutes away in Mesquite I haven’t had the chance. Finally got the chance this past Saturday due to being in the area for a baseball tournament I was coaching at. Well, let’s say I won’t be going back or referring anyone here.

Tried calling in an order. Called the first time and nobody answered. So I figured that was a good sign because they’re busy and in high demand. I call again and someone answers. I attempt to make a take out order over the phone, but the employee said they aren’t taking phone orders at this time and only online orders. Because I was driving and already 2 minutes into my route to their location I did not want to place an order on my phone. So I said I’ll just order when I get there in 15 mins. Also, I was in a time constraint which I why I wanted to order ahead.

I arrive and the place is empty which is shocking since they didn’t answer the phone the first time. I order the jackfruit fish sandwich combo. I immediately get told that it is unavailable. The employee tells me that they are saving the jackfruit that they have for tomorrow. I thought she was joking with me, but she was dead serious. This all could have been communicated over the phone, but again, they were not accepting phone orders. That jackfruit fish sandwich was the only item enticing enough to order. Since I just drove 20 mins there I figured I might as well order SOMETHING. Also, they didn’t even have Mac & cheese available. I settle for the chicken sandwich with mashed potatoes. I wish I still had the picture of my $17 meal, but I did tag them on Instagram (in which I never got a response from them). The price did not match the serving size especially since I can get that exact same sandwich elsewhere in Dallas for less than $10 with fries. The sandwich was good, but I felt like my meal was an appetizer especially due to the tiny cup of mashed potatoes they gave me. I waited three days to make this review because I tried to give them time to respond back to me on Instagram. Nope, they never did. BUT they did have time to post something on their Instagram about a famous comedian visiting them on that same Saturday. I guess that gentleman must have bought lots of jackfruit sandwiches. I have no problem spending my money elsewhere in Dallas at more accommodating vegan spots. Definitely don’t recommend this place to anyone and I will not return. Only rating 4 stars to not be an a$$hole....

Wasn't to pleased with today's visit. I understand growing pains.. but the service is slacking severely! The gentleman today seems very spaced out. We ordered the same meal from our first visit. We ordered an extra ckn Patty for both meals. (6$) the guy had me repeat my order several times... When he brought out the ckn and waffles and my chkn fried steak. My partner got hers or so we thought. Waved another server down to see about my other Patty, when she returned from the kitchen she informs me that my meal doesn't include a second Patty that if I wanted another one I would have to pay for it.. I did order it and I am paying for it. She then goes back, and our server comes back bringing a basket with two ckn patties and two sides of tater sauce . 🤷 Confused I asked him about it.. his response " ma'am the chkn and waffles already comes with two ckn patties, you ordered a third for that plate." I responded with " no sir last time we came here y'all only served one Pattie with that meal had we known this time there was supposed to be two weeks wouldn't have ordered a third. Whatever, so why is there tarter sauce?" Apparently they serve that when you order extra patties of any sort. Crazy. We also didn't get refills at any point during our dining. He never came back to check on us. We were very kind and patient. Now for the picture I have posted below.... They have ac units mounted on the walls. They sat us on the side that was leaking and water was every where. I see the wet floor sign but they should have closed that area off. It was very hot in that corner. Even the lady there breast feeding was sitting on the couch with a fan blowing on her for how hot it was. THEN a single gentleman came in to eat, they sit home right next to it. In the picture you can see how close the water is next to him. His seat is sitting in it! Not safe and a lawsuit ready to happen . SMH I think it'll be a while before I can go back. Maybe they need to work out their issues before they open for business. Food is great.. but greater less expensive places have had great food, but closed due to lack of...

This review does not mean that I will not be back to try more food or not recommend others to try your food The server/host /order taker I give a rating of 3/5 just cause of His mistakes made while I was there but everybody makes mistakes it's okay. He left some things off the ticket my friend ordered so she had to go back to his cashier for him to charge her for them and he knocked over a cup of tea at the cashier that got all over the menus and the floor but still tried handing me a drenched and sweet or unsweet tea soaked menu. The food did not take that long to make, I'm not complaining on my served size but the fries tasted like they were put with seafood or fried during the same time as sea food which is weird cause the host said they were not serving any sea food today cause it is Monday and that is only on weekends, and I don't like that cause I don't like seafood but taste it on my French fries for some reason. The chicken sandwich I got was small but not complaining about that I understand that's just how the establishment makes them HOWEVER, I asked for no tomatoes and extra pickles and I got no tomatoes or pickles. Other than that, the sandwich was okay I guess, honestly a little scared to return and try the nachos or cheestake. And one more thing I walked in and saw a huge sign and thought it was the sign of the owner of the place but turns out it was just a giant sized ad for a realtor.. not a bad thing just thought they were introducing the owner of this place Place itself was very empty with one host out taking orders and a closed off kitchen, not a bad thing just stating what I came into

This review should be valued by whoever is going to coach the server and cook that prepares meals, not anyone looking to try their food. Go up there yourself and get your own experience, we all have our own hearts...
