From Favorite to Frustrating: Poor Experience All Around
My brother and I took our mom out to dinner while she was visiting from out of town. We chose this restaurant because it used to be one of my favorites, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish.
Our waitress, named Genesis, took our order. Strangely, we noticed that other staff members also introduced themselves as Genesis, which made us question whether it was by design or an attempt to avoid individual accountability.
Server 1 brought out our food, but several items were missing, and there was no silverware. He dropped the plates off and left quickly before we could say anything.
When our waitress returned, we informed her about the missing items and lack of silverware. She apologized and said she would check on it.
Several minutes later, Server 2 returned with the missing food items, and we told him about the missing silverware as well.
Five minutes later, Server 2 came back with the silverware, and just moments after that, our waitress also showed up with another set.
By then, the food was cold, and the rice was hard and clumped together. We expressed our frustration about the delay and how it ruined the meal. While trying to sort out my mom’s order, I didn’t notice that my broccoli was missing. I told the waitress I no longer wanted it. She responded that it, along with the other delayed sides, would be removed from the bill at no charge.
After that, the waitress never returned to inform us we could check out at the kiosk or to conclude the service.
The display from the self service kiosk was misleading. Each removed item showed as \$0.00 under the subtotal, making it appear they had been removed, but when reviewing the final receipt, we found we were still billed for the entire order, including the sides.
When we were ready to leave, we flagged down a different waiter to inform him the kiosk at our table had no paper. He told us to go to the main register to get a printed receipt.
At the register, our original waitress was standing nearby. She saw me waiting but didn’t acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. Another waitress stepped in and asked if she could assist. I told her I needed a receipt. Then our waitress said, "Oh, I’ll print it out."
Before handing it to me, she looked directly at the tip section of the receipt, checking it, instead of simply handing it over professionally.
My biggest regret is that my mother didn’t enjoy her dinner, and that I left any tip at all. This used to be my favorite restaurant. After tonight, I no longer...
Read moreWebsite states to call ahead for 6 or more to get on wait list. They would not honor the website. We have a party of 11 and was told no call ahead. I doubt I will b a customer after this. Then we had to wait till half the party was present. Revised after reply from customer relations. Not only did we have 11 people, we had to be separated because the tables are bolted to the floor. The only area that had moveable tables was the middle. We were waiting on 1 more of our party to arrive (our name was on the list) to have 1/2 and in walks a party of nine and they were given the section that had the moveable tables. Not 5 to 10 mins later the rest of our party showed up. This was pointed out to the staff and all we got was excuses. THen to top it off all of the salt shakers had moisture inside . Everytime I pointed this out I was given another one from the kitchen the same way. I also grabbed one from a empty table that was the same way. The lid came off when trying to shake it. Thank goodness it was not over my plate of food. There was rust buildup on the inside of the lid and around the edge of the glass. No one on the staff seemed to care enough to get the manager involved. I had to go to the front to request the manager.All that was said was, the A/C had just been fixed and that was why the salt shakers iare n that condition. 8/28/24 I have updated my review because the district manager called me to talk about the experience. He was definitley upset and concerned. I was told that the inside seating area will be getting a upgrade with new carpet and ALL the tables will be unbolted from the floor to make it a more modern place and large group friendly. He was obviously unaware of the situation. I was asked to be patient, that this kind of change will take sometime. The food was good, the service was attentive. But after having to bring the salt shaker issue to one of the servers, the issue was never brought to the attention of the manager until I asked the host to get the manager. Read moreSo we decided to go there for dinner. We arrived at 8 pm on a Saturday night. There were 6 of us for dinner. It wasn't totally packed for a Saturday night. I ordered the fried white fish, green beans, and a baked potato. We also ordered the cheese bites, which was actually good. My food came, and I was surprised on how much fish came on the plate. The menu said lightly breaded and it was very breaded and greasy. The green beans that came with it were actually really good. The bake potato that I only ordered with butter never came. The waiter did tell me that it was going to take 7 minutes for the bake potato to be ready, and I was okay with it, it just never came. I figured it was to be expected since I didn't get a refill of my drink until I asked for it. The waiter would be gone for a while, then would come back. I went to use the bathroom and walked by the entrance to the kitchen and the floor was totally wet, I almost slipped. I started looking down at the floor and noticed that the floor was dirty, not just in certain parts, the whole floor. Bits of paper and just spills all over. The bathroom was worse. This Cheddars was nice on the outside but subpar at best on the inside. It was like the employees stopped caring about the place they work at. I would avoid this Cheddars and eat somewhere else if I had the choice again. Update! 06/15/2024. I should of known better, but the family wanted to go there. I ordered the roasted herb chicken that is a limited item on the menu. It looked good in the pictures on the menu. I got it with a side salad that was very delicious and I had high hopes with my chicken. Well those hopes were literally destroyed, like the chicken was. It was obviously sitting under the lamps for a long time. It was dry and crusty and burnt. I posted what it looked like compared to the picture on the menu. It was also very salty. The baked potato was also sad looking overcooked right next to my over cooked chicken. It was a large serving. I ate one piece and I didn't eat the rest. I should of known better.
