My family and I are regulars of Little Mexico and we go to enjoy the food and normally great service, however this time around it was anything but, our server, Ana, failed to provide us adequate service, causing us to constantly to get up and ask a manger to receive refills and items such as straws. When first approached by our waitress, Ana, we were met with “what do you want.” No good evening, no hey guys, no welcome, straight to the point and not in a good way. Afterwards we had ordered two child enchilada plates, one small queso, and one shrimp Acapulco. When our food finally arrived we were short one enchilada meal and when we alerted the waitress she responded with “No you didn’t get that, you got only one enchilada and shrimp Acapulco.” After 25 minutes I had to get up to get the mangers attention and alert them of the fact that our food had taken this long though there was only three other tables occupied and the manger said that the order was at the window, meaning it had been waiting . After this first incident we asked another server if there was anything wrong with our server, Ana, and was told that she always has an attitude and no one enjoys being seated with her because she does not provide good service. A couple minutes into our meal we ordered another drink of coke and we didn’t receive it after 15 minutes and so we reminded our server, Ana, that we ordered a drink she said okay and throughout our whole meal time of 2 HOURS we never received this drink though we reminded her multiple times. We received no hospitality via our server, Ana, and was never asked if we were okay or if we needed anything. Towards the end of our meal we ordered desert of sopapillas and after 10 minutes we asked the manager where the food was and was told it takes a long time and we need to be patient, at this point we were annoyed with the overall service and we just asked for the check. When we received our ticket we were charged an extra 25 dollars for our meals than priced on the menu, since we had received such inadequate service throughout this whole experience, we were extremely upset and disappointed and expressed this the manger. In conclusion, I tried to enjoy a good meal and good time with my grandchildren and this time together was tainted by the terrible service and poor management. I was extremely dissatisfied with...
Read moreI was craving Tex-Mex and on a tight budget when my phenomenal woman found this little place.
It had good ratings. It was close. It was Tex-Mex. It had a stuffed avocado (her fav).
So off we went to the little house down the street. Upon arrival, the parking lot is packed. This is a good sign. We parked in the over flow parking across the street from the local fire house and head in.
As we enter, a couple is leaving, "the margaritas are great," they say. Another good sign.
We enter and see the special!
Every 5th and 15th, 55 cent house margaritas with purchaseof entree. Excellent!
We are almost immediately seated. Great!
We look over the menu and observe the sights. The menu look good. The decorations were festive. The table was clean. The clientele... was older. Not so good. (I'll explain)
BUT... we soldier on and order.
The drinks are decent. For 55 cents each they are awesome.
The salsa is over blended and under seasoned resulting in an aerated tomato foam with decent flavor but no spice.
Service was fast and mostly attentive. I'd say on par for most restaurants but nothing special.
Then... our food came out. Now, I have been to a ton of different Mexican and Tex-Mex places. From hope in the walls where they shoved grandmas in the kitchen and spew forth food worthy of GODS to multitudinous chains that shop at Walmart for their canned slop.
This food is some where in between. Not great, not bad. Bland, underdeveloped flavors in fair portions but lacking severely from authentic touch.
And this is where the clientele factors in. In my experience, whenever a couple that loves Mexican food, ages; is inevitable that one or both will no longer be able to stomach the spice of authentic Mexican food. So they sacrifice and find more subtle flavors. Boring flavors.
This is that kind of place.
Good if you have acid reflux, easily upset stomach or ulcers.
Good if you don't have a lot of money to spend.
Bad if you want awesome, authentic, this should be illegal (and might be)...
Read moreTLDR: ORDER CORRECTLY AND DETAILED. I mean in detail and mix and match, do not leave the choice to the waitress. They will serve you all ground beef or "seasoned beef". Order the Wings, And Quesadilla. Do not get too many items with "seasoned beef! The flavor overwhelms you and it all tastes the same.
My fiancee had always told me to go check this Tex-Mex restaurant out. She hyped me up, but it was more hype than anything in the end.
I ordered the Grande Platter and a chimichanga a la carte.
The chimichanga was nice and crisp and the queso sauce really put it over the top in taste. Rich and the Seasoned beef (ground beef)
The Grande Platter had: -1 Flauta Seasoned Beef -1/2 Small Grilled Chicken Quesadilla -1/2 Small Grilled Steak Fajita Quesadilla Some Seasoned Beef Nachos 1 Fried Mozzarella Stick 3 Fried Chicken wings Ranch sauce side Marinara Sauce Buffalo Sauce Scoop of Guacamole on top of Nachos
I tried this after the chimichanga... And the Quesadillas were awesome. The little fried wings were great too.
But all the season beef (ground beef) in the flauta, the nachos was overwhelming. I did not enjoy it to be honest.
I stopped eating half way because the flavor was shadowed because of all the seasoned taco beef flavor.
My suggestion, when you order make sure to vary the meats if possible. I didn't get asked what meats I wanted, but just TELL the waitress to vary it. It is not pleasant to eat different samples of dishes when they all taste the same seasons beef flavor.
My fiancee ordered a Beef Enchilada plate. She ate the enchiladas, but the rice was kind of off... I didn't like it one bit. The taste or smell wasn't the best on the rice. The beans were great, they smelled good and rich in texture.
Overall I wanted to rate them at least a 4, but I just was not pleased with my first time visit. I'll give them another try and maybe update if...
