Hadn't eaten here in almost 2 years but had an appointment nearby so I stopped in for a Super half pound burrito and tostada. First the burrito. One it definitely was NOT a super burrito anymore. Even their regular burritos were bigger than this thing when I was a regular. Almost no cheese, the lettuce looked weird like it was old and wilted. And the meat? paste definitely tasted off again like it was old or something. After about 1/2 of it I trashed the rest. After considering it this reminded me of this disgusting frozen pre cooked taco meat a friend bought at Gordon foods for a potluck. The regular tostada was slightly better looking. Hard to skimp on the toppings when they are visible but I still had to pull out a bunch of pieces of wilted icky lettuce like you can see on top in the picture. And after a couple bites of "chewy" iceberg lettuce I tossed it as well. Overall this visit didn't trigger the nostalgia. It triggered my ick reflex and guarantees that this is my last visit ever. I should have eaten at Arby's next door would have been cheaper and maybe would have been real meat. Now I have to hit a gas station for a beverage to try and get these weird tastes out of my mouth. Ohh and they STILL have the $15 canvas bags.🤣
Had to stop here for a friend even though I still avoid patronizing them. And I saw something absolutely hilarious I had to share. They are charging $15 for a cloth tote bag you can have custom printed for like $2 each on many advertising merchandise sites. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But what can you expect from a restaurant that charges 30¢ for each 8¢ mild sauce packet after the first one.
As with others I've been eating at Taco Boy for years. They used to have so many locations. And have always been a fan of Taco boy. The food is really good. And I understand some price increases as food costs rise.
But their rating gets dropped because the owners have started nickel and dime you, like Adobe. I can understand some price increases as food costs rise. But 25¢ for a mild sauce packet? 79¢ for a little cup of hot sauce? Even Adobe only wants 45¢ for an extra hot sauce. I can understand excessive requests but 1 extra sauce...I had them take it off.
Also I think it's my last visit. As the employees not realizing I was sitting around the corner decided to disparage me for requesting it be removed after they thought the store was empty. I'll give my business elsewhere. Maybe check before talking about someone behind their back. Especially since I was always friendly and courteous to them. And I patronized the...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible service. They made my food incorrectly and when I returned to get it fixed, the worker was extremely rude. She wanted to cut open my food bare handed to prove it was correct even though the toppings on the outside were incorrect also. When I said I didn’t want her to cut into food I would be eating without gloves, she sarcastically said I’m touching the damn box, not the food. It continued downhill from there. Overall horrible experience which is sad because we’ve been coming to this location for over 24 years. Looks like we will be on the hunt for a new weekly wet burrito spot.
Edit to add: Thank you Taco Boy for responding. However, I wasn’t upset about the incorrect order, I completely understand mistakes happen. It was the young lady’s horrible attitude that lead to this review. If a customer comes in about a mistake and isn’t being rude or making a scene, just simply asking for the mistake to be corrected, it’s not ok for your workers to try to get loud and yell at the customer. I’m sure you can understand why I wouldn’t want someone without gloves cutting into my food and then to be yelled at about it. I used to work for you guys in high school and I can tell you right now, Mercedes would have fired me immediately if I treated a...
Read moreGrowing up in GR, Taco Boy is a part of my childhood. It’s a staple on this street and it’s a sanctuary for this city... The food is always good. I love my boys that work the hell out of that kitchen at night...! The wait is almost non-existent. They work so damn quick! Of course, during rushes you gotta a bit of a wait but, ya know... that’s the luck of the draw... This place has always been great and I am so happy to be back home enjoying Taco Boy again 🥰 I almost forgot how delicious it is 🥴 Excuse my photo - I forgot to take one before digging in 🤭 I am past the point of the burritos and tacos. I am trying to enjoy everything else on the menu one by one. For now, it’s a Chicken Tostada Tex Amex Style (everything), and the Chicken Dinner w/ Rice & Beans (should’ve got rice & salad) But, my husband who has only been in GR a short while HAD to get a Burrito I wouldn’t let him get anything else - WET IS BEST! But, you can always get it dry and the enchilada sauce on the side :) Make sure you get everything on the...
