Bill's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

I don’t dine here often and my last memory of patronizing this business was about five(5) years ago. Today, June 19, 2025, at about 11:00am my neighbor and I decided to have breakfast/lunch here. My neighbor mentioned that she was a frequent customer, so I decided that we would eat here instead of my regular dining spot. As we’re deciding what to have the assistance manager, Rhonda, approaches my neighbor, per the instructions of the “manager”, to accuse my neighbor of causing a problem during her last visit. Mine you, that last time she was there was about three(3) months prior. The issue I’m not comfortable with is the way my neighbor was confronted. Rhonda was aggressively louder then necessary, drawing attention. Authoritative and basically rude in her accusations when it was not my neighbor actions what were in question. This made dining here a very uncomfortable experience. I requested to speak to the “manager” and was told “he doesn’t handle this type of problems”. We were not given the opportunity to clarify any misunderstanding…. I’m reluctant to stop here anytime soon again unless an apology and clarity is provided by the manager….or Rhonda…

Not a pleasant...

Stopped for breakfast after a friend recommended this place. It was the worse breakfast I have ever been served! The place was very dirty, staff all had on dirty aprons, the vent blowing air above my head had cob webs hanging from it. Breakfast took forever and while waiting for our food we had to get our own coffee 3x waitress was not on top of her game all the way thru the meal. One served my whole plate filled with grease the bacon had standing grease on it and the eggs full of grease and not done. The yolk was raw with the whites cooked and tons of grease also cold toast! The omelet was just terrible also, sliced cheese used and full of grease. The waitress never asked how our food was never refilled coffee or water but did bring the bill right when the food was served in which that was saturated in grease also! Everything was just gross! I will never in my life go back to this place! Terrible atmosphere, terrible food, terrible experience and not to mention a waste of my Saturday morning. Got the eggs, potatoes and toast for 7.25. With a side of sausage gravy for an extra 2.00 as I like gravy on my home fries. The food was standard breakfast diner fare. The sausage gravy wasn't the best I've had but wasn't the worst either. Honestly the food was just okay. But I wish I had been told upon asking if they had Texas toast that it would be a 50 cent upcharge. As that is not indicated ANYWHERE on the menu even under the "on the side" toast price.

The service is very friendly and the staff greeted the regulars by name. Mine was just a little bit on the slower side. Overall a decent diner without the super inflated prices. It's just not a new "regular" spot for me as I'm particular about my sausage gravy. 🤣

I do think I'll come back to give the olive burger a try sometime because I'm a sucker for a decent...
