Would have given 4 stars, if not the for the terrible customer service. Unfortunately, we had asked for a specific design on our wedding cupcakes and this is not what we received (pictures below of what cupcakes looked like vs. what we had asked for). The cupcake icing was supposed to be in the shape of roses, but we were given a swirl. Not only was the design incorrect, but all the cake designs looked rushed.
We went to Connie's Cakes to have a discussion with Mary about this issue and she was incredibly rude. She didn't apologize initially and said that we should have sent her a picture of what we wanted - we had sent a picture and confirmed in-person with her that this design could be made. She got flustered and asked us to sit down. She eventually apologized and we asked what we could do about this mix-up. She tried to give us a gift card for Connie's (which was appreciated!) but we are from out of state and had no use for the gift card since we only were in MI for the wedding. She then got cash and threw it on the table at us. I asked if we could have a discussion about this to figure it all out, to which she refused. Instead she made comments like, "Are you kidding me?" "Well you had delicious cupcakes so you should be happy." and "Well, did you eat the cupcakes? If so, there isn't a problem." The issue was less about the cupcakes and more about being promised we could receive a service and paying for that service, but then not getting it. She eventually walked away and wouldn't have a conversation with us about it. We left, but felt incredibly disrespected and wished Mary would have been willing to have a conversation with us rather than dismiss us.
Another issue we had is that we were promised Connie's would bring boxes to our venue for us to put leftover cupcakes and our cutting cake in. This did not happen on the day of the wedding, so after the wedding our family had to drive home to get Tupperware just so we could bring the leftovers home.
Cons of Connie's Cakes: Poor customer service and professionalism. Did not provide resources that were promised (i.e. boxes for leftovers). Did not provide the design that was asked for, agreed upon, and contracted.
Pros of Connie's Cakes: If you're willing to gamble on how your cupcakes will look, I have nothing but positive things to say about the taste of the cake and the icing. The cake was moist, fluffy, and super tasteful. The icing was really creamy and overall delicious. They also deliver and set-up for you, which is a huge time-saver on the wedding day....
Read moreI contacted Connie's Cakes to inquire about a wedding cake for July 2021. Mary responded to me and at first was very helpful. We are from out of state and she worked with me for a time over email. Once I started asking more detailed questions, she suggested a Zoom meeting to get everything accurate. She set the meeting up for a Wednesday and sent me the link. On Wednesday, I logged in 5 minutes early, sat in the Zoom meeting for 30 minutes, and no one showed. I emailed Mary immediately that there may have been mistake, did someone forget, etc. I got no response. I emailed again on Friday - 2 days later. Again, no response. I finally called Connie's cakes and was told to send an email with my 4 flavors for the sample cupcakes and to schedule another Zoom meeting.
A week later, we visited Michigan and arranged a pickup to receive the test cupcake flavors. My fiance went to pick them up and none of the staff addressed him when he walked in. When he inquired about the cupcakes, he was told to "check the boxes in the front," which turned out to be someone else's cakes just sitting there. My fiance asked again about the cupcakes. Finally, someone handed him a box from the fridge and he noticed there were not the right flavors that we had requested. He pointed this out, and the employee got irritated and claimed I had never sent her a list of flavors. When my fiance pressed, the employee got angry and went back through the emails, finding that I had indeed sent the flavor list. The employee did not apologize, but threw together random cupcakes from the fridge that they had on hand. To "make it right," they put in an extra two cupcakes. All in all, we only sampled ONE cupcake that we had originally requested to try.
Upon trying the cupcakes, they tasted dry and as if they were made from a box. We cancelled our Zoom meeting and decided to take our business elsewhere. It is too bad - this company came highly...
Read moreDo not ever use this company for any sort of bakery items especially for you’re wedding you give them a design of the way that you want the cake to look and even when you send the email to them while you are sitting with them doing the tasting to make sure they got the email which they did and then they deliver the completely wrong thing that is no where near close and when you call them asking them what is up with this they give you a completely wrong answer back saying oh you never sent it to us but like I said previously we sent it when we did the tasting plus sent over a photo to a workers phone number. Also they claim they will give you a free voucher for you anniversary for a free 6in cutting cake instead of freezing the top of it so you have something fresh we ask them how do we get that and they say we will put it in you’re card box guess what is not there and who doesn’t answer there phone because they don’t want to deal with it very very bad business to work with if you like getting scammed/ throwing money away go ahead and use them but if you want to deal with a truthful business then stay clear...
