Stopped by for dinner on a Thursday before the Jeff Dunham show. Convenient location right next to Van Andel and local parking garage. They were busy, but our party of 5 still got seated quickly. The server was friendly and gave us his favorites as recommendations, which we appreciated. The appetizers were delicious- the Pretzel Nuggz were the average pretzel balls and cheese one would get at any good restaurant. The winners were good. The BBQ Brisket Fries were good, The fries themselves were very good- perfectly seasoned and crisp. But there wasn't much brisket on it to justify double the cost. I would suggest just going with the loaded fries because of this. My husband had the Bloody Mary and liked it is enough to get a second. Two of our party had the Tropical Blue Rum drink and it be was good. Not overly sweet or heavy on the coconut. Everyone loved their entree. 3 of our party got different burgers and they were flavorful, not greasy, big & filling. I think the best one was the Cowboy Dbl Smash Burger, but my blu cheese loving husband loved Stella Blue Dbl Smash Burger. Another had Killer Mac 'N Cheese- creamy with just the right amount of cheese. I had the Risk It For The Brisket and it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it- one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had.

I had went here the other day with my son. We have been here several other times also. But this last time wasn't the ideal visit. Having a budget in mind as usual I ordered the Cowboy Smash burger combo and wings for my son. The total bill was $37.10 with drinks. The burger in the menu was priced at $12.50. Upon receiving the bill I was charged $14.50. I asked why the extra $2 and she didn't really know but suspected the raw onions I asked for on the burger, (which I didn't get on it,) and the cheese sauce plus ranch. I'm pretty sure the cheese sauce with the frys comes with it. But apparently not. She told me they were 50 cents each. Well if you add that to the total it isn't 2$ more. So I just said forget it I'll pay for it but some people have to stick to a budget. My sons wings also were the wrong flavor. They did realize that and brought him the right ones. But I was just disappointed overall in the service. The greeters at the door didn't seem to friendly and our bartender/waitress either. I might go back again but spending that much money on luke warm food, the wrong order and being over charged isn't what I had in mind. I thought the food was made fresh or the burgers for sure but it was barely warm and the fries not even hot. Just watch your bill when you check out. Usually in the past I've had a great experience here but the people that helped us didn't seem to care that we were even there. #disappointedforsure Update: I was contacted by the company via email and did finally get a gift card to return for a $25 value. It took over 2 weeks due to whoever had addressed it sent it to the wrong address entirely. Guess they one didn't care to make sure it was addressed properly and two they response time was a few weeks of going back and forth and waiting. I think I'll try another Hop Cat location to see the difference in the two places. Ty for at least giving me a gift card for part of my money I spent.

This place used to be amazing. Walked in, not too busy. Got sat in what appeared the busiest section. 10min no server but tables around me that already had food got drinks and then another table was sat and got drinks right away and a food order put in when the drinks came. Still no server after telling one I was ready to order and was told she would be right there. Another 10min passes before she comes back. My kid is starving at this point. I put my order in and she returns with waters for us, fries for my kid, and says I put your burgers on the fly so they should be up in about 10min. I’m now feeling better about waiting so long. At least my kid is happy.....for now. Fast forward 50min, no sign of the server and my kid is complaining about being hungry. I’m packing us up and ready to go find the server and pay for the fries so we can leave and figure out a plan B and she comes up with the food. Burgers and fries are cold. The kids burger is served on Texas toast. My kid can’t even bite it because it’s hard as a rock and sharp. I 86 the TX toast and take half of my bun and cut it in half and put his burger on that and give it to him. He eats it but just wants to leave. Went to leave and all the servers are standing at the bar talking and the bar tender is on his phone oblivious to the ppl that sat down in front of him 2min prior. I walk over, pay my bill, and leave. It’s unfortunate, I used to love this place but I won’t be back. Makes no difference because they will stay in business and not miss my money. If you’re down town and want to grab dinner, if you have plans, find some place else unless you like cold food and terrible service.

First off. The waitress was absolutely amazing. I would give her 100 stars ⭐️ if I could. I’ll leave a picture of the young lady. She is so sweet, and friendly. We didn’t feel like we were being push out the door. She came to check on us. Talk to us. Filled drinks the perfect amount of times. You see her make sure you tip her well. She deserves it. The lobster Mac and space curds with bloody Mary aioli are to die for. Definitely something I’ve never had before. Would definitely go back if I get the chance again. I did go with family. I’ll let them write their own review if they want to. Amazing pictures on the wall and heck even in the lady’s room. Well those one’s are more cute than amazing but I’m sure you get what I’m saying if you go here. You won’t be disappointed. Nor will you leave still hungry. Brought food home, and finished it later that night. Still just as good as in the restaurant. Also for the people who like saving the planet 🌎 their carry out box’s are recyclable. We’re not from around Grand Rapids so this was definitely an amazing place to eat with the kids. Go check them out. You’ll most likely feel the same way I do.

We came on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't overly busy so seated right away. Our waiter Miggy was great, I'm always impressed when waiters don't need to write down orders! He memorized our order and got it right👍🏻 Ordered the patty Thorne burger and the madtown grilled cheese. Both very good but my husband likes his burgers rare and with smash patties they are always cooked through, so he said it was ok. There was a little misunderstanding about the GF bread, I thought from Miggy's answer that they had GF buns AND bread for the grilled cheeses but I got my grilled cheese on a GF bun. Still was good but not what I expected. I've heard so much about the fries that I was expecting something extra about them, and while they were very good we couldn't say they were phenomenal, however we were told later by a friend that the best way to have them is loaded so I will definitely try them that way next time!👍🏻 Overall a good experience and I would love to come back to try other menu items!

Visited HopCat downtown for the first time today!! Must say that I had a great experience from the time we entered; until the time we left! As a fellow hospitality professional; it added to.my personal experience. Our visit began with a segmented entrance process provided by a Hopcat employee meeting us in the entry and giving us a little run down of their current safety practices. We were then ushered inside where we were warmly greeted by another employee who showed us to our distanced seating! He was very friendly and explained that they use a QR scanner for digital menus. Having a new phone, it was giving me a little trouble and the gentleman kindly offered me a paper menu; after graciously attempting to assist me with the QR scanner!! 😃 Manny was our server and also provided outstanding service during our visit today. We tried the Loaded fries, the Buffalo Chicken appetizer; an M-44 as well as a 3 beer sampler flight....Really enjoyed the experience and will be back!
