✨ Quick explanation of what an escape room is and how TGER in GR runs things: ✨ • An employee will check you in and have you sign a waiver (signing this just means that you should tell them if you have any medical and/or disability needs, and how you’re never actually locked in the room so you can get out to use the bathroom if you need to or something). Signing this also means that you agree to not take photos/videos inside the room and you agree to not post the answers to any puzzles in the room. • The employee will take you to the door of the escape room and explain the story/premise of the room and answer any questions you may have. • An employee will be watching your group over cameras in the escape room to make sure you guys are doing okay! • You and your group will get an iPad that has a timer on it to keep with you in the room. The timer is started remotely by an employee once you start. This is how you see how much time you have left to solve the room. On the screen, there is a hint button that your group can press at any time if you feel like you need a hint to push you in the right direction. (I recommend only pushing the hint button if you are really stuck on a puzzle for awhile - otherwise if you constantly use hints it ruins the fun!). Once you hit the hint button, the employee who’s watching you on the cameras will type out a clue and it will pop up on your iPad screen momentarily. • Once you solve all of the puzzles, your iPad timer will be stopped and an employee will come into the escape room and tell you congratulations! At this time, you can ask the employee to take a photo of you and your group if you’d like!
💖 Review of TGER in GR: 💖 My husband and I, along with my sister and her girlfriend, came here for the first time earlier this week and we had a great time! The staff were very kind. The employee that helped us was awesome! They answered our questions and explained everything perfectly so we felt prepared before we went into the escape room.
We did the infirmary room, and it was amazing!! I think us going in a group of 4 was perfect, because we had enough people to be working on multiple puzzles at once without any of us just standing around taking up space. I’ve done other escape rooms before with 8-12 people and it was a mess. If you’ve never tried an escape room before, or even if you have honestly, I’d recommend going in a group of 4-6. That way, you have enough people to be working together on a couple different puzzles/clues at a time. If you have more than 6 people (in my opinion), people end up just standing around and then you’re more likely to just be bumping into one another. The four of us ended up solving it in 35 minutes and we only used one clue!
Overall, it was an amazing experience and we really liked the hands-on approach to the infirmary room. It had the perfect mix of different kinds of clues/puzzles, so it didn’t feel like we were solving the same kinds of puzzles over and over. I am definitely recommending TGER in GR to other people and we will definitely...
Read moreSeveral years ago a group of friends played the 'Poker Night at the President's Bunker' and had a great time. The person assisting was very helpful and this was the start of a tradition that we now do an escape room every girls trip. The second escape room was completed a few weeks ago. We played 'The Haunted Hotel'. While the puzzles were fun, and the room and story were well crafted, the person assisting was NOT paying attention. It would take 3 separate presses to the clue button to get any kind of help. They would give clues to parts of the puzzles that were already solved or ones we were not on yet. There was always a large delay and it made it more aggravating. It actually divided the team because it made it seem like we were requesting large amounts of clues but it was because the clues were not relevant to what we were trying to solve. Tensions were high and it ruined the experience. In the end, the person who showed us how to solve the last couple puzzles once the timer ran out mentioned that the puzzle likely would have gotten solved within 5 minutes which is more than enough time from all the wasted efforts with the clue requests. Literally had to at one point ask the camera if we had the code wrong and repeated the numbers we used 2-3 times and still did not tell us until pressing the button on the third attempt with the third clue that it was not correct. I will not likely be back to this establishment. We have a reservation in a couple weeks to try out the other local escape room 'The Ruse'. A helpful tip is to add 'Masonic Temple' into your GPS for the parking garage to get accurate directions. Parking is free which...
Read moreThe great escape room in Grand Rapids was a blast. Our family did the Moriartys game room. It was challenging for the adults and still enough for the little ones to be involved and keep them entertained. We didn't make it out in time but still had fun. The game master helped when asked and kept the story line exciting. We will be back to try again. One thing I will say is I wish the website explained pricing for the young ones clearer. It said 35.00 for adults and then had a 33.00 price for students ( must have id) and seniors. The only age was mentioned was 16yrs. And under must be accompanied by a adult. We assumed that student ment collage students sense it mentioned school id. We paid the adult price for my wife and myself and our 17 yr old. And assumed our 10 and 7 year old was free. When we arrived we were informed 5 and under were free. So we paid 33.00 dollars for our 10 and 7 year old which really had fun but we're still really too young to be much help. Not a deal breaker but wish it was clearer before we got there. Thanks to the staff for making a fun afternoon...
