DeVos Place — Attraction in Grand Rapids

This place makes for nice venue for tons of different events. It is very large and has lots to do and see. I stopped by the Ultimate Sports Show there today. It is going on until the 13th for anyone who enjoys fishing, food, and freebies! Everdry waterproofing has a Booth set up, enter a drawing for a chance to win a yeti cooler. If you have any cracks, leaks, moisture of any kind in your basement or crawl space let them come take a look. They will give you a no obligation estimate and they do a great job and have a great team. Tell them Matthew Call sent you! A shout out to kentwood police department who has a booth as well. They are looking for recruits to join the force. So if you are interested stop by and chat with them. Great lakes gear has a great deal going on right now, $35 hoodies, shirts, and a drawing to win some yeti coolers and a very nice grill. I got a hoodie(for $30) which was an extra $5 off I guess cuz he thought I was cute! Lol! It is so soft and fits like a glove. I will post pic, love it!!! The only issue I had with the place is the security people were so rude. If you don't know where you are going in there make sure to ask or you might have to deal with a rude security guard who is not very polite or understanding when they tell you the right way to get through there. Like I'm supposed to know, first time there, hello! Lose the attitude, try being polite and respectful to people and maybe they will do the same for you. Check it out tho, lots of good stuff and...

I love the variety of events held here, especially the musicals, which our family attends regularly. My largest complaint is the seating area. It's extremely "cramped" to the point that you are touching the person in the seats beside you, and there is barely enough room for people to sqeaze through in front of you to get to their seats, (even if you stand up to let them pass) which happens repeatedly. I think they need to use some of the money to redo the seating area and the floor. The floor is just a dirty grey cement that lends a run-down appearance to the entire seating area. Prices for events, drinks, parking, etc. run pretty high, which would be much more palatable if they offered a better seating/viewing experience. As a side note, I'd also like to see more of the show elements "extend" out into the audience...lighting, sounds, characters, fog/mist, etc. to make for a more magical and...

Loved it! We went for comic con, and didn’t disappoint. I will say, I’m not from Grand Rapids, so just so you know anywhere downtown Grand Rapids and the DeVos place, they don’t have public restrooms. It was a bummer, but I understand as well, just sucked since I wasn’t from around there and I was peeing my pants lol. But I hope this helps some people. If you do attend comic con, they do have bathrooms there, as long as you’re in there and you know, don’t leave, you can use those bathrooms, their policy is that once you leave, you can’t come back and use the restroom even if you show them your ticket. Had to learn the hard way. My mother did get escorted to the restroom since it was legit right there, so if you really can’t hold it, you can ask if they can escort you there. Although the bathroom inconveniences, I did have a lot of fun....
