Fresh Depot — Restaurant in Granite Falls

My husband and I had lunch and dessert at the Fresh Depot yesterday. The moment we walked in we were greeted with a very friendly employee. The atmosphere is cozy and colorful with colorful paintings. We are not from Hickory but on occasion we do business in Hickory. We had time to spare and ventured into the Fresh Depot only for coffee. We decided to get a bite to eat and are we happy we did!! The food was great! We had an egg sandwich with bacon. The Fresh baked bread was good and the bacon was not overdone and it was plentiful. We added onion rings that they make from scratch there. We commented on how the grease tasted fresh on the onion rings. It is our worst fear to get an old oil taste on anything deep fried. We can always tell when oil is old. Here it was NOT old! In fact, we mentioned that it was not old tasting and the chef smiled and stated that it in fact had been changed that day. We had Fresh banana cake with frosting and a huge red velvet cupcake which had fresh butter cream frosting, too! Was so yummy that we took home 4 slices of banana cake home for dinner. I have been here at least 8 times since this restaurant moved from Hickory. Of those times, only 2 were Great! The others were nothing to brag about, and several were REALLY bad. My last visit was tonight! I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken. It was the worse I have every had, and didn't even resemble Alfredo sauce. It was the most tasteless, bland food I have eaten in a long time. It was served with a cold roll... Really!!?! The servers are great there, but I don't think my server shared this info with the kitchen. Probably a reason for that! If he did, they did nothing to correct it, nor were any apologies made. I had to ask for parmesan and then I asked for garlic to make it palatable. I should have sent it back and gone for the salad bar! For a "made from scratch", supposedly Fresh Ingredients Restaurant, they had nothing but garlic powder! I paid $10 for this tasteless dish and left most all of it on the table. When asked if I wanted a to-go box, I declined! What a shame. This area needs a decent restaurant. Too bad the owner/chef(?) doesn't take better care of his customers. I've left a review before but I need to leave an update. I work for an urgent care and we order here all the time. I always go through the drive through because where I work we are extremely busy and a majority of the time we don't even get to take lunch breaks, so needless to say I am in a rush and I also have trouble carrying all the food bags out to my car. The girl that is normally working the window wasn't there today. She is very nice and always knows I'm splitting the order about 4 different ways. Whoever was working today was so unpleasant we will not be returning. She was very rude when I arrived and even more rude when i said I'm spliting it. She told me I needed to come inside to split orders. I told her we always do it at the window. I've never had a problem before. Not to mention, many things were left off of our order this prticular time. I wouldn't have had any issue coming inside if she had a better attitude about it. We work with the public everyday and it's alot more difficult than ringing up orders in a drive thru. We get frustrated too but we are NOT RUDE to our patients. Hire...
