We went to this restaurant partially because it was featured on Under The Radar. Kind of a bucket list of Michigan restaurants for us to visit. First of all the view is incredible, you don't have to sit next to the windows to enjoy the view well designed and the tables were place well in regards to this. We sat on the second floor near the stairs, we could feel the floor bounce every time the wait staff walked by and it created a loud hallow sound with each step. The water in the glasses vibrated like a scene from Jurassic Park. We went towards the last week of the season in October. I had the Jager Schnitzel which were simply breaded pork chops and not schnitzel. They were decently sized and on the tough side, and difficult to cut with a table knife. I was really hoping for a German themed restaurant to provide a decent schnitzel which should be pounded thin and lightly breaded. The spätzle was decent, but the gravy tasted like a jarred gravy and was overly disappointing. My wife had the Walleye Almandine which the piece i tasted was soft and almost mushy. I was also surprised at the cafeteria style presentation of plate, almost like they had plates prepped so they could slide any entree onto it. I see that these reviews are responded too, i mention the schnitzel specifically because this isn't an unique take on this dish, its ok to just call them pork chops which they are. I'm leaving out the service issues only because it was late in the season and I think everyone was tired But the smoked trout dip...
Read moreThis place is just alright. The menu itself sounded incredible. I was so impressed that I ordered literally 6 different items just for a table of 1. Only the watermelon salad (which came as a side for my entree) was absolutely exceptional. But it’s so legit that I urge you to get it yourself. The rest of the items were good but not mind blowing. The dessert- a “cheesecake” which was actually just cake batter and cream, was an actual travesty. It looked so damn tasty too, but it truly is not. An extra star was added for the atmosphere. I was able to sit on the back patio (only 4 tables back there, so chances are low of being this lucky), and truly enjoyed being able to look at the water while eating. My server was also very nice and professional. A fellow server who I did not personally have but waited a table nearby however, was rather impatient and rude to a table of foreigners. Some other noteworthy pros: a bread basket and soup/salad is included, which is becoming more and more rare at restaurants. There is a free WiFi, which for current Copper Harbor lack of phone service is pretty great, they sort of do reservations over the phone, but for other days coming up, and do a wait list the day of. All in all, I’m really not sure I’d return. Maybe I’d give it one...

From the moment we entered the restaurant and placed our name on the list, the service was fantastic. Friendly and professional.
We had just gotten off the boat that brought us back from Isle Royale, and we were tired and hungry. We had an hour to wait so we went to our lodge, unpacked, and practiced yoga, and when we came back we were seated right away.
The space is inviting and the views are beautiful—really nice outdoor swatting.
Our server, Lily, is a sweet young woman, friendly, very likable, has great recommendations, professional, and funny - Outstanding!
We shared: Goat cheeses with mint marmalade and kalamata olives Crab stuffed rissotto balls Cooper Harbot grilled trout with Yukon mashed and risotto Beet salad and Caesar Chocolate ganache with ice cream
All was excellent. The Goat Cheese with mint marmalade was one of Lily’s suggestions and a delicious pairing for my taste buds. It was a wonderful civilized dinner after being in the wilderness.
BTW, their Old Fashioned was the best that I had since the beginning of our road trip through Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota.
