BAD experience. Waiter super absent. Big kitchen issues. Waiter started off by he mixing up our drinks- okay, no biggie. We order and he seems rushed and doesn’t ask us what cook we want on our burgers…takes off. Then we get the burgers: lousy fries, overcooked, bland burgers (def. not fresh- came from frozen patties), raw tomato, wilted lettuce, no cole slaw for either of us despite it being listed on the menu, and here’s the kicker: I take one bite and I spit it out…I had bit into PAPER. Not just one slice of paper, but two! They cooked paper right into the burger…like, really? So then we don’t see the waiter ever again…until we’ve sat there a good 20+ mins…he finally shows up, hears the complaint, takes off, comes back again, and starts telling my BF (whose meal was also terrible but did not contain paper products) that he’s sorry and they’ll take 20% off. So I mean, “Hi, it was me, so maybe direct this apology my way?” And no…I explained no, 20% is not sufficient- I’m not paying for any of my entree…it was missing things, what was there was terrible, and it was inedible. And I’m still hangry. So in the end, after many back and forths, they did cover the whole ticket, and the waiter although way too absent, earned a tip..but we will absolutely...

Ordered: 0/5 Smoky trout dip - pureed and super salty if you like that. Served with premade pizza crust cut into triangles to resemble pita bread. 2/5 Stuffed crab pretzel - pretty tasty crab dip spooned on top of a pretzel. That's not a stuffed pretzel. Did have good flavor. 4/5 cheri's (?) Salad 0/5 Lake Chowder - says has plenty of both kinds of fresh fish. had potatoes, carrots, a flour base, and fish pan drippings. Missing flavor and the fish. 1/5 Friend ordered some kind of Chicken Alfredo - chicken was probably pre-cooked and kinda dry. that wasn't Alfredo sauce - it was tomato based something but a white sauce. Even the parmesan cheese sprinkled on the plate was pre-shredded.

Post dinner - I hear the fresh fish dinner is the thing to order. I was gonna try that tomorrow but dang.

Bummer, cause what potential there is. Keep it simple and delicious. Serve good fish. I would throw the Smoky pate', pretzel, and wanna be pita away. Serve the crab dip with fancy crackers or crostinis. Make some good simple Alfredo sauce base (it can freeze), cook meats and fish fresh, sprinkle with freshly grated parm on top. Skip the garnishes.

Server was great. Cool building. Decent drink selection with local options. Great...

Looking for fine dining…. Wrong place. Looking for a great local family restaurant. This fits the bill perfectly, hence the 5 star rating.

Great food. We had the beer battered haddock with a baked potato. It would have been easy for the two of us to share one plate, as it was we each had four nice sized pieces of fish and a nice baked potato. If you are interested in a good hearty meal this would probably make you happy.

Our waitress was great, on occasion almost telepathic, as she showed up with a to go box as we were discussing how fortunate our dog was to be able to eat this great fish… absent the beer batter (sorry Lexie)…

They had a decent beer selection as well as mixed drinks and wine.

The place was neat and clean, but a bit dated. Again, it fit the bill nicely. Maybe some updates would help the place, but everyone else seemed to be having great time.

We travel a bit in our RV and enjoy eating with the locals.

Try it if this review indicates that this is something...

Starting off. Great atmosphere, parked up at the tippy tip of the upper peninsula is practically snow mobile country. The mariner makes it easy to drop in for a casual meal, relatively good pricing for quantity with respectable service, I didn't particularly think the meal was a 5 star simply because the beer battered haddock I had was too dry for my liking, a very common thing when deep frying battered fish and I've been spoiled by some seriously good fish and chips out and about in Maine, Massachusetts and London so I may have been overly biased in my assessment. The server Ana even asked if I was alright and if there was anything I would want to replace the meal, I had to decline as I've already practically finished 3/4 of my fish - plus the fish chowder and mushroom sandwiches came out delicious.
