First of all, I loved this place. Definitely going back.
I thought there was AC according to online description. They have limited AC units. Luckily, it wasn't too bad when we were up there and we had a box fan. So if i went back knowing it was going to be hot, Id just ask for an AC ahead of time. I'm OK unless it gets mid 90s.
I really liked how the rooms were decorated. Very clean and most well kept place we stayed on this trip. Good size mini fridge. Nice TV. Separate sink and shower/potty area. Nice shower. Good water pressure, super hot. Lots of towels. Super clean. Good and free WIFI.
We had to ask for stuff a bunch like towels, TP, garbage bags because housekeeping didn't seem to come by. But that's minimal compared to everything else.
This is such a great location, a few blocks away from the ferry. The town has everything you need. Within a few blocks including laundry and good food, a really nice grocery. Lots of good coffee and very nice community of people here. Every one of them were wonderful to us. Copper Harbor. And the Minnetonka is right in the middle of it.
The gift shop is REALLY nice. I especially liked the selection of books. Kudos to whoever curated that! I bought 4 fascinating books about the area. And the jewelry I bought on my trip, I got here. A gorgeous copper nugget necklace and aventurine bracelet. Also they have wonderfully potent candles. I got a pine one for a gift. They have clothes and all kinds of souvenirs stuff also including some beautiful moccasins that people seemed to come in for specifically. Even if you don't stay here don't miss the gift shop.
The museum was not open while we were there. But if you follow the dirt road behind the hotel back through the cabins to the eastern most street leading away from the hotel the road ends and it continues onto a path that leads to the end of the next block. So there's no back street. Just a path. This is a short cut from walking down the highway. This leads to a pond and nature area just absolutely filled with wild flowers and berries. Deer sleep in the grass there. It's a stunning place to watch them graze at sunrise. There is a very nice grass path all around the pond.
I don't know if i said it but every one was very very nice here and it was hassle free. I had an absolutely...
Read moreWe made a very last minute visit to Copper Harbor and were very fortunate to find overnight lodging available midweek at The Minnetonka Resort. The online reservation process worked perfectly and the in person check-in process was efficient and easy. The person who checked us in, as well as all of the staff we met, was attentive, friendly, kind, and helpful! We had two of the cabins, one of the original older 2-bedroom log cabins in the back of the property abutting the woods (#5) and a newer smaller cabin next to the main property by the wellness center (#14). Both cabins had a simple, rustic, charming, comfortable feel. #5 had two bedrooms, one larger with two beds and one smaller that were nicely separated by the kitchen/dining area. Just walking in and lying back on the beds, windows open, was so relaxing! Small kitchen areas, with plenty of room in the fridge/freezer, and tables made a wonderful place for us to gather and eat in. Outside seating made it a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors. The cabins were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Before we checked in we were a little worried about noise given proximity to HWY 41/26, but the town settles down after sunset and the trees by open windows made it very peaceful! From the resort we were in walking distance to the waterfront, stores, and restaurants. We ate lunch out but found the cozy relaxation of our cabins so inviting that we bought some food from Glen’s grocery and ate in at the evening. There was an amazing breakfast/lunch food truck across the street for a delicious hot breakfast! It was a great place to stay for a wonderfully simplified vintage feel close to everything with the modern amenities like internet, TV, fridge, stove, microwave, great water pressure for showers, etc. needed to make it easy! A cozy gathering place with books and TV connected to the office and jam packed great gift store was an...
Read moreCouldn't say enough nice things about the people that run this place. They have been sweet and kind in every interaction, even after we came back and weren't guests there anymore. The bed was comfy and the shower had a good flow and plenty of hot water. No A/C but they did provide a fan which worked well enough. When we got there, all the windows were open so it was nice and cool, but when we closed them due to road traffic noise, the weirdest smell started to fill the room. It was strongest by the bed near the bathroom so we slept on the one near the door. (Room 5) Kind of like an old oatmeal smell? I didn't remember to tell them in person so hopefully they see this review in case it needs to be extra cleaned or something.
That doesn't deter me from opting to stay here again, though! Even if there were other hotels that showed up, I would still pick this place.
Microwave is in the main building if you ask. Wifi included and the mini fridge has a small freezer which was nice. Easy walk to the dock and food trucks available when they are open. Door locks behind you, so take your keys! They are LGBTQ+...
