We needed food and it was going on 8 PM. Not a lot of options, and we had never been to this one before, and the grill was open until 10 so win! It was... OK. The beer selection is good but only three options on draft. The burgers are cooked medium well unless you say something... scratch that, we ordered rare and the came medium well. The buns were toasted black around the edges. So they were OK, but not great. The onion rings were very thick and crunchy but cooked too long and were difficult to eat. I have never experienced that before, it was weird. Hard to bite through. The building itself is great, lots of wonderful art and decorations. Service was attentive and nice. I am sure the food is better than it was tonight, but it wasn't busy so not too sure. They had Widowmaker beer so I was happy with that. And blackberry white claw so she was also happy. They have guest wifi. It's not fast but it is there so kudos for that!

Food was very good, although bit pricy and assuming this has a lot to do with location and limited options. Burger was $17, salad with chicken the same and bbq Mac. Wait staff were nice, took awhile to be noticed and server did not return at all during the meal. There were additional needs we had and place was not at all busy, we were the only people in our section. She also put the check and pen inside of the to-go food box we had requested = weird and yuck. Overall good experience if you’re passing through.

Stopped for lunch by snowmobile, what a great choice! The trail goes right past it, but it’s easy to miss because a very popular bar is across the street, my advise is to skip the popular bar and go here! We had a burger and a quesadilla, both were delicious, wonderful vegetarian and vegan options, and the typical bar food too! My pictures show half our serving, we were really hungry. The service was friendly and quick, really cute north woods decor, not over done. We will be back!

I hope this reaches the correct person/owners of The Lake Effect Bar and Grill. Back in June my husband and I took an overnight mini vacation to Copper Harbor (we live 2.5 hours away) and our visit brought us to your wonderful establishment. We had an awesome dinner and the waitstaff were so kind. We said we wanted to bring our kids back to see the fall colors, which brought us back to Copper Harbor today, October 1st. We visited all of the sites and then brought 3 hungry kids to eat there again. The waiter (I didn’t get his name) was very kind and attentive. We ate our food and he brought us our bill. I paid with a card and left a cash tip on the table. As we were pulling out of the parking spot, I look up to him yelling and waving his hands. I rolled my window down thinking my card didn’t go through. He yelled “an $80 bill and no tip?” I was mortified! The outside dining area was full of patrons and he’s standing there screaming at me, in front of my family. I made my husband park and I ran back in the restaurant. I was irate! I didn’t see him, but I immediately asked for a manager at the bar. They said they would get him and I told the gal what just transpired. At that moment, he came up to me and said he missed the tip on the table. I told him he was so unprofessional and he embarrassed me to the utmost. I told him you don’t ever chase down customers like that. I’m still sick to my stomach even as I type this and it’s been an hour. He tried to give me my money back but I told him I want an apology and I hope he’s just as embarrassed as I am. I said as I walked out I will never return there. We dined there on 10/1/23 from approximately 3-4 pm. The waiter was tall with a mustache. I didn’t get his name. I hope he doesn’t act like this...

We spent the night in Copper Harbor in preparation for a trip to Isle Royale, and we needed a place to eat. There were a number of restaurant choices, but based on menus we found online, Lake Effect seemed to be the most gluten free friendly. We were not disappointed. The current menu is all new and there is a new chef. Many of the items we found online were from earlier menus that are still floating around the Internet. The current menu is smaller than what you may find online.

I had the Classic Burger "Lake-Effect" and my wife had the Classic Burger "Brockway." They were some of the very best burgers we have ever eaten. I had the onion rings and my wife had the "Garlic Parmesan Fries." Everything was absolutely delicious. You can also get your burgers made with chicken, a vegi option, and one more I cannot remember.

I had 2 glasses of Widow Maker beer made by Keweenaw Brewery, and my wife had something called a "Field of Dreams" made with strawberry rhubarb vodka and lemonade. Both were excellent.

The service was very special throughout the entire meal. The bartender asked us about dessert, but we noted that there were no gluten free dessert options on the menu. The bartender, who it turns out makes the desserts, went back to the kitchen and came out with a dish of the warm blueberry filling from their blueberry cobbler, without the crust. It was the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

Our only regret is that we did not have time to go back for a second meal. If we ever find ourselves in Copper Harbor, MI again, the Lake Effect Bar and Grill will be our first choice for...

In a town with few options to eat and no mobile data at all to check on online reviews, we went to this place with low expectations. We just wanted some lunch & warmth from the elements.
We were told to sit at any available table and there were quite a few guests at the late lunch hour. Our server came by and took our order and was very polite and soft spoken to our kids. He got our kids’ drink orders quick and was sweet enough to update us on our orders arrival. I had a Hot corned beef sandwich for my lunch. My son had the grilled cheese and my daughter had the mac and cheese. My husband went with the Fanny Hope BBQ. I really liked my rye bread and corned beef. Juicy beef and very filling lunch! My kids too filled up on the tasty food and my husband mentioned that his bbq was tasty. More than the food, the server left a lasting impression by virtue of his cordialness and that he checked on his guest regularly. He truly had a wonderful demeanor. He made our lunch memorable and we will definitely stop by Lake Effect next we are there. FYI : They close for winter after...
