First time traveling this way. Read the reviews and decided to check it out.

We had breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak with white gravy. Also hashbrowns and I asked for the white gravy to go on my hashbrowns. The chicken fried steak was flavorful and stayed crispy even with the gravy. I liked that. I also had some coffee which was pretty good coffee. Nice and strong.

When walking in it definitely has a small town diner feel. I would say everyone seemed nice, but I felt like the staff could of used more upbeat customer service. As we didn't get a warm welcome at first. But after we got our meals it seemed the waitress warmed up some and was a bit more welcoming. Again it's not just about the food but also customer service.

My eating partner had the biscuits and gravy. And the sausage gravy I would rate high. The top 5 places of the best sausage gravy.

I would probably get the sausage gravy on my hashbrowns next time instead of the white gravy. It just had a great flavor.

You definitely get more food for what its worth. Spent about $22.00 dollars for two of us. And that's a good deal. I would eat here again if I was passing through.

I would of rate this higher but customer service could...

I am Very disappointed at West Sides customer service. My disabled client has been eating there for the last year, sometimes more than once a week. ( he tips between $5-10 on an Meat lovers Omelet with a side of bacon and sausage, gravy, No toast. They KNOW his order. He got out of the hospital and wanted one, we get it home… No meat!!! Crumbles of bacon. $27.! I called up there and was explaining what happened, the waitress started talking to Suzie and wasn’t even conveying properly what I said. So I was trying to get her back on the phone.., to which she said if you’re going to yell at me I’m hanging up.. I was yelling ‘hey, hello, HELLO… to get her back to the phone to Rectify the situation.. She hung up. It gets better, then they decided to play little girl games hanging up on me and setting the phone on the counter to ignore me… Who in their right mind would pay almost $30 for eggs! Do better girls!!! The customer service these days is gross, and I’m not the only one that’s had an issue here. You could have rectified this… By giving...

The good: Waitress was nice and the food was pretty good. Some of the best onion rings I've ever had!

The bad: I ordered a meatlovers omelette. It comes with hash browns and toast. I don't eat hash browns or toast (carbs). I told the waitress that I don't eat these and asked could I sub a little country gravy on the omelette instead. She told me, "No. They're very strict back there." No discount since I'm not getting the full meal. I'm used to that, but what is the harm of putting a spoonful of gravy on the omelette instead of the other stuff? She wanted to charge me $2.49 for a cup of gravy. Nope. And when my omelette came, hash browns on the plate. Ugh... The waitress apologized and said, "I wrote it down but they put them on there any way."

Portions weren't as big as I expected for the price. Not even close. Supposed to be cheese in omelette. 1/4 of it had no cheese.

All in all a mixed review and I'll probably go somewhere else...unless I want...

Westside Diner in Grayling, Mich. This little diner definitely deserves a highlight reel of its own! They have it figured out; featuring great specials, an awesome breakfast and lunch menu, super cute atmosphere, and a friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed the coffee and was offered consistent warm ups and flavored creamer 🤎 We ordered the Country Fried Steak Breakfast, and the Biscut Skillet Breakfast and both were phenomenal. Don't forget to check for the Specials on the wall. They even offer a board where customers can buy a meal ticket and leave a card, and a hungry person is able to come get a warm meal 🥰 This is exactly what I hope for when I look for a diner. #travel #food #diner #breakfast
