Having lived in Grayling for nearly 15 years, we've dined here often. Friends and family usually want to have breakfast here when visiting from downstate. We enjoy their breakfast menu the most. We've always had friendly and efficient waitresses. They used to be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. More than several years ago they closed for months and reopened just for breakfast and lunch. It has the atmosphere of an all-American diner, complete with a long bar and mounted round stools where you face the drinks station, chat with the staff and say hello to friends. It has a diner menu for breakfast and lunch such as eggs, omelets, pancakes and endless refills on your coffee. There are usually a few lunch specials along with burgers, soups, salads, open faced hot sandwiches covered in gravy and of course, breakfast is served from opening to closing in the mid- afternoon. Basic fare, affordable prices, friendly staff and a comfortable place to meet up with the locals or entertain visitors. A Grayling staple for multiple...
Read moreVisited here for a solo breakfast on a weekend trip for a wedding. The room looked filled when I walked in. I was seated right away; I had an option of a seat at the counter or a booth. The counter did not look like it was suited for my tall stature. At the booth I ordered drinks right away and was given a water and coffee. The coffee was great black, the water was good. I later switched to a larger glass for water as the initial one was too small for me. My farmer's omellette came with American/home fries and wheat toast. The omellete was a little runny/watery but was delicious and filling. The portion of fries was a bit short for me. I paid about $12 for food. The room is suited for a few tens of guests and is decorated with mainly WWII memorabilia. Overall, the service was great, the environment was pleasant, the food was pretty good, and the price was reasonable. I would visit again if I am in the...
Read moreWe often camp near or travel through Grayling, and we had been looking for a restaurant for the occasional breakfast to start a busy day. The Grayling Restaurant is right downtown, so it is easily accessible from every side of town and easy to walk to from available parking and downtown shopping. It has excellent food at a good price. Wait staff is very friendly, attentive, and professional.
The last time we were there, we noticed a couple picnic tables under the covered entrance, and we are hoping they will offer outdoor eating where we can go with our dog when we are traveling even if it is just on a carry out basis.
The Grayling Restaurant is now our regular "go to" breakfast and lunch restaurant when we are in the...
