If you think taco bell is Mexican food... please go away.
Don't judge this place by the negative reviews. Look at some of their profile pictures versus actual pictures of the food and that should tell you something. Dummies who wouldn't know great Mexican food if it literally bit them in the butt. They probably think nacho fries at taco bell is authentic Mexican or that Mexican chili is tomato based and has kidney beans in it. No. Just no. It's a shame they're allowed to weigh in... because they don't know what good Mexican food is.
Review: Let me start by saying WOW, the food is genuinely authentic and incredibly delicious. You'll clean your plate.
The building is admittedly a little "meh", and thus the atmosphere inside follows suit. It's ok... just nothing special and kind of plain jane. But you are there for the food, right? You're not there for "atmosphere"
You will find that the great staff and excellent food are absolutely top notch. Very attentive and fast and friendly 💯
If you've been to El Patron in Gaylord and if you like that place (which you should), you'll be very happy to know it's the exact same menu and recipes because it's the same owners. Even the physical menu is the same. I found out when I started looking at the menu and was like "wait a second... this looks familiar" and asked the lovely waitress (who is a very sweet and friendly person) and confirmed. She is actually familiar with where I used to live in Texas and chatted with me and my wife awhile as we ate. She's such a nice person.
Put it this way, I lived in a Texas border town for over 10 years, and know what Tex Mex and authentic Mexican tastes like. This is IT!!
If you want authentic and tasty, (and aren't suffering from a mental deficiency as some of these reviewers likely are lol) then look no further. You really won't be disappointed!
Recommendations on what to order: I recommend the la deliciosa, the Burrito El Patron (it's seriously massive!), or the molcajetes (not sure I'm spelling that right?) Which comes in a giant heated stone bowl and tastes just incredible. I find it really hard to steer away from that one, it's a little pricy... but totally delicious and totally worth it. But you will have to be taken out in a wheelbarrow lol.
Also, people complaining about paying for $1.50 for chips and salsa? Come on, how petty can you be? Do you ever think maybe they're throwing more away than are eaten, and they want to be sure you want them without them having to waste money?
Complaining about not having alcohol, another petty argument. How about this? Go get hammered somewhere else. If you're more concerned about getting your drink on than what the food tastes like, you're probably have dead taste buds at this point anyway... lol
Also, side note: if you're one of the morons who voted for Biden, shut your dumb mouth about food prices because you're the reason it's like that now.
Off the soapbox now... In short? You'll Love love...

I’m usually not one to complain when it comes to how Restaurants operate, but this place vexed me.
The building itself was very tiny, the dining area was cramped & the booth I was seated at made me feel very claustrophobic.
This is the very FIRST Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to where they charged you an absurd amount of money for nearly Every. Single. Item.
Nearly $4.00 for a SMALL dish of Guacamole, $1.00 for a SMALL dish of Sour Cream, and $1.00 for 3 additional Tortilla shells, etc.
The prices of the meals in general weren’t that reasonable, and I feel that they could get away with it due to the fact they are located in a small town.
The wait staff was friendly, although they all looked very, very lost. I wasn’t given my condiment plate for over 10 minutes after my food was served to me. I was told that “They we’re still working on it”. Explain to me how this happened when they weren't that busy. On a Wednesday evening.
They have been in operation a few months from what I was told by the server and they still do NOT have their liquor license. I don’t drink that often, but for those who indulge it is looked at as an inconvenience.
When I went to pay my bill, the hostess did ask me how everything was. I was polite to her and explained how my service was, she said absolutely nothing and the look on her face was one that expressed to me that she clearly did not care. At all.
I know for those of you who have read this review probably think less of me, but being in customer service also & it is vital to make their experience as memorable as possible. Even when you may not agree with how they...
Read moreCame in to try the revamped restaurant. It did look very nice inside, the service on the other hand was where I’m bringing the review from. After sitting down we were asked if we wanted chips and salsa which we did I thought it was pretty standard to get that at any Mexican restaurant . It wasn’t until later I found out I was charged for it.
After 15 minutes nobody came to ask what we wanted to drink, 5 workers standing in the corner talking I had to get up and go ask if I could order.
Granted the cook rocked the food out fast after that and the food was great. Served never came back once to ask how the food was or for a refill. Had to ask again to get a refill.
Then 20 minutes go by after we are finished eating as I’m now unsure whether I go up to pay or get a bill brought to me. No one comes, so I walk to the front and ask to pay to find out my bill was 48$ for 2 plates of nachos and 2 drinks with a charge for chips and salsa as well. At the old restaurant your nachos carbon was 15$ it is now 20 and you charge for chips and salsa. My wife and I used to walk out for 35 to 37 bucks for the same thing! Carbon was 15, fajita nachos 14 , 6 for drinks, no chips and salsa charge..
Food good service...
