Cranky Pat's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Green Bay

My husband & I have been going to Cranky Pat's for years. On Sunday 7/1/18 we were hungry for your pizza. We Always get a Large Special with 2 extra toppings. Good news first the refurbishing looks very nice really like the new bar. The Bad news we got there around 9:00 pm. When we walk in the door, I was shocked. There was a smaller group in the dining room, a man & woman & us. Several (more than 4) tables were sitting with dirty dishes on them We don't need a menu so we ordered right away. When our pizza was served, the couple sitting by us were Not happy. They thought the pizza they were waiting for (over an hour +) was theirs. Our Pizza was okay not the usual Great. It should've been cooked for about 5 more minutes the crust was chewy & the pepperoni was still pinkish. Bythis time it was going on 9:45 & all the couple was offered was a Gift certificate & an apology 😡 They wanted their pizza & now there weren't any places serving food. Reluctantly the cook said she would make it To Go???? The people in back we also in dispute for something as well. & Again I was Shocked. Apologies were given. The Reason We're short Staffed tonight! The salad bar was just being loudly taken down the tables Untouched & our receipt said 10:23 pm. Only Vanilla & Vanilla/Chocolate Ice cream to pick from with full unopened boxes right next to them. We spend more to get The Best pizza in town. The Authorization code #725213 - server 8561. No manager 🤔 We'll go back ~ but will look before...

Went back for my second visit on Tuesday January 30, 2024. I ordered my pizza for dining in 10 minutes before arrival. It was a personal slice of sausage, fresh mushrooms and onions (free) pizza. Upon arrival I told my waitress I had ordered ahead on the phone. Ordered a soda and salad bar. Salad was very tasty as was the mushroom soup. Top it off with chocolate pudding. When I left, I took along a small cedar crest vanilla ice cream cup (free for customers that dine in). Waitress gave me a free refill of soda. With tip and bill together around $20 . . .I'd say a perfect visit.

Cranky Pat's Pizzeria (Green Bay) appears to be a local cult following restaurant that everyone should try. In my opinion, it joins Stuc's Pizza (Appleton), Faye's Pizza (Sheboygan), Firehouse Pizza (Sheboygan Falls), and Jim's Place (Slinger) that locals seem to love.

Observations:

1. Fun watching these towering pizza's get made and placed in the oven. They certainly don't skimp on any fresh mushrooms for those people that love them.
2. Across from the bathroom doors is an employee only glass door which you can watch the pizza oven's mechanical components operating.
3. Very large staff works inside Cranky Pat's (Green Bay)

Neighborhood pizzeria at gourmet boutique pizza prices. I ordered carry out last night (11/04/2018), a 14 inch 2 topping pizza. I was extremely disappointed in the pizza and pricing. The pizza was a 5 on a scale of 10. There was very little sauce and very little cheese. The crust was thin and crispy....my favorite (too burnt for some people, just fine with me). The cost was $20.57.....which is ridiculous for the pizza I received. I can buy two Toppers 14 inch with two ingredients for the same price. And the quality of the Toppers is equal.

The prices are not on the website.....I understand why. Overpriced.

As far as ambience and decor this place is a typical dive pizzeria. No problem as long as the pizza is great. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

Conversely, the buffet is excellent. The pizza at the Green Bay and Neenah location buffets was superior to my carry out last night. In my experience, the Green Bay location is inferior to the Neenah location for single pizza orders. I rate the Neenah location 5 stars.

I know this pizzeria is a Green Bay institution. However, their quality is hit and miss and the prices are unreasonable. When they are on, their thin crust pizza is excellent....when they are off, the same pizza is nothing special and overpriced. Not the best pizza...
