La Carreta — Restaurant in Green Bay

La Caretta is hands down one of our favorite spots! The family atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff always goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. As a family with food allergies—dairy and gluten—it’s often hard to find places that accommodate us without sacrificing flavor, but La Caretta has truly been a game-changer. Their gluten-free menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of delicious options that never disappoint.

Today, I had the tres leche cupcake for dessert, and I can’t even put into words how phenomenal it was. If you're gluten-free, you know how tough it can be to find a rich, tender dessert, but La Caretta absolutely nailed it. The cupcake was decadent, moist, and so incredibly flavorful—it felt like a true treat!

We love bringing out-of-town friends and family here, and every time, they are just as impressed as we are. La Caretta consistently delivers an incredible experience, and I can’t recommend it enough. If I could give it more than 10 stars, I absolutely would....

Very authentic Mexican restaurant specializing in the popular dishes of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The famous 'Torta Ahogada' is on the menu, the crown jewel of the Tapatios. The sauce is not as spicy as the sauce of the tortas ahogadas of Guadalajara, and the bread is not the same due to Green Bay's much lower elevation and stronger humidity, but they make due with what they got and make an incredible product. Their sauce is unique, pork tender, and bread soft. Salsa is outstanding, chips have a real corn flavor, and guacamole very rich. Estrella Jalisco beer available, as well as mixed drinks from Jalisco. Birria tacos of the California style have great flavor and should be tried also. Service very welcoming and genuine. the workers are very kind, but the food could be a bit better.

as a mexican myself i don’t really appreciate when i order a burrito and it’s 90% rice and barely any meat, beans, and other toppings.

i ordered some tacos and a burrito to try. when i got home i was very shocked and excited because both items were very big in size. i decided to try the tacos first and those were delicious, when i tried my burrito though, i was disappointed because all of my bites were literally just rice. i didn’t get to any meat until i was halfway through. i understand that burritos are made of rice, meat, beans, etc, but it’s very disappointing to see it just be mainly rice and barely anything else.

despite this, i still ate my food, but i don’t think i’ll be coming back...
