I have never been to a sonic, so I didn't know what I was doing really. I asked one of the kitchen girls and she told me how to use the screen. I figured out what I wanted, asked some questions so I could go about any customization I may prefer. I went with a double smash burger with cheese and nothing else. The girl taking my order marked "add cheese" twice, didn't mark "No pickes", didn't mark "No diced onions", marked "Add ketchup" and marked "No Smash sauce." I told her, no, I dont want ketchup, i just want it plain with nothing but cheese and the patties on it, she took it off, as I was stating my drink, she marked, "Add ketchup" again, and sent it to pay, so I said, "Hey, before you sent it to pay you marked Add Ketchup." And she responded, "You said you wanted Ketchup." I clarified, "No, I said I DO NOT want ketchup, I just want a plain smash burger with cheese and a patty, my fries, and my coke." She said okay. It didn't pop back for me to see confirmation that it was fixed.
When the guy came out with my food he was very nice, I asked him to stand while I checked it and he very nicely agreed. I checked it, all was good, got my drink and thanked him. Kudos to that employee, but whoever it was who who took the order on Station 15 inside between 4:30 and 5:20 needs a retrain if shes not currently in training because she seemed more...
Read moreI was excited about this location opening because it's close to my house and I've never tried Sonic but always was intrigued by the TV ads. I've been here 3 times.
The verdict: Fun, tasty, carnival-like food that is unfortunately not very healthy. Actually pretty unhealthy. Sonic is one of the few restaurants left that still uses very bad-for-you trans fat. For example, every medium milkshake has 2 grams of trans fat which is considered extremely excessive. And sodium amounts are also extreme in cases. The medium honey barbecue popcorn chicken has a whopping 2,780 mg of sodium, well over a day's worth. That said my favorite items I've tried are the peanut butter shake and the soft pretzel twist (with marinara sauce).
If Sonic could make their food more nutritious, or at least offer healthier-for-you options it would be a great place to eat occasionally as a treat. As it is, I'm disappointed that the food is good but you are killing yourself eating it, unless it's only very occasionally and you avoid the excesses. A plus is that Sonic does make nutritional information very easy to access on their app.
Also, the service issues people reported seem to have worked themselves out for the most part. Yes, none of my orders were 100% correct but few fast food restaurants can...
Read moreAs I scroll through the reviews... it's bad... really bad. Every single time we have been here (a lot I have teenage boys) we have waited crazy long times and our order was wrong 100% of the visits. 100%. I finally had enough because the staff treats you horribly because you point out they brought someone else's meal. I called and got the regional manager Woodrow (sp?). Nice guy. I explained a summary of my numerous situations and my concerns about health when they consistently take the wrong orders out to people. I highly doubt they are throwing that food away every time as they should and are required to. He assured me they do. I just don't believe it. He promised me a gift card at the store. Several weeks later I tried to pick it up and it wasn't there. I decided to order anyway and guess what? It comes out... not my order. I text Woodrow and let him know. He has the GM call me and she was beyond rude. She asked me about my experience and then dismissed me and said "you're gift card is here. I'm here til 6p". I said with thanks for caring. I went up tonight and saw Woodrow and got my gift card. We discussed it all again.
All I gotta say is only go if you have time to wait and if you don't care if you get an order someone else's hands were...
