Eagle Grill consistently has the best seafood in the area. As a matter of fact, they have the absolute best crab cake I've had in Florida. We went to the breakers and ordered the crab cakes and the first thing we did was look at each other and knew what each other was thinking. Eagle has way better crab cakes! Eagle will definitely charge you for that crab cake dinner, but I would rather be charged more for awesome food than be charged more for mediocre food, which happens all the time these days. If anyone ever asks me where the best crab cake in Florida is, it's at the Eagle Grill in Greenacres! Also, if you like traditional fish and chips, you may want to try something else. I was expecting a traditional batter dipped piece of fish but got very nice lightly fried fish strips. And while the fish strips were delicious and very high quality, I would have preferred it the English way. A whole dipped in batter fillet. I asked for malt vinegar in preparation, but when I received my order, I realized that they would better be suited by dunking in remoulade instead and eating with a fork.
One thing I have to say about Eagle, is that absolutely every employee is fantastic. The people who work with Eagle stand out as some of the best employees I've encountered at any business in recent years. We just decided to go there tonight and Lee was our server in the bar area. She was a top-notch server. An absolute asset to any restaurant/bar business. I've owned and ran restaurants before and would be grateful to have someone like her working with me. I don't know how to describe it. When we go there for dinner, there is so much positive energy going on. And we just have a really good time hanging out in that environment. I know the employees are a big part of why we love going there. Anyway, I rarely bash businesses but I always praise awesome ones. Hence the...
Read moreOur decision to eat at restuarants are soley based on reviews. That is why I feel obligated to leave one.
First, I must say we eat well at home and it is always hard for us to find food worth spending money on. We would always eat out and I would look at my husband and say, "You could have made this and much better." ( He's the Chef)
Anyhow, My hubby and I were looking for Oysters..We drove by this place, took note, and finally had an itch we couldn't ignore. We called first to get information about the oysters. The lady who answered the phone was very cheery and helpful. First plus in my book. We placed an order for pick up and was glad we did.. When we pulled up it was packed!! Second Plus, what that meant to me was fresh food and return customers. I also took note of the crowd. Mostly consisted of 50-something year old Northerners!! Third Plus. (They usually know where to eat and appreciate quality seafood). When I walked in they were busy and the atmosphere social and bright..Went to pick up our order at the bar and was taken care of by a lovely lady named Michelle. It was quick and painless. Checked my order as I always do and it was right!! Fourth Plus..
We ordered the dozen gulf oysters..ONE WORD..FRESH!!! It met our expectations and did not disappoint. We had an order of The Fish and Chips basket and one of the Shrimp. In addition we ordered the Conch chowder which we left for tomorrow (never order when you're hungry). When ordering fried food it is always a gamble..It can be greasy, fried in old oil, or over fried.. This was NOT THE CASE.. It was delish!! Their cocktail sauce was excellent too!! Everyone can find something they like on the Menu.. There is a wide variety of choices..The portions were generous and I was glad they were. Will recommend and return!!! Happy we took the gamble and won BIG... WE...
Read moreI had not been back to this restaurant since pre-covid. I once had a bad experience here with shellfish that may have been the culprit of a difficult day after. Decided to go back. Packed on a Friday night, and told one hour wait. after 40 minutes we looked in and saw that there were far more empty tables than there were people waiting... asked for a table and were seated right away. The table was wobbly, and I told our server. He immediately set to work stabilizing it. He then asked me if it was still wobbling, and while checking (it was), some guy who was walking around like he owned the place (he probably does) rudely told me to take my hands off the table and let the server do his job. Not a please or thank you, just a rude order. I was surprised. I ordered a half dozen raw cherrystone clams, and my wife the clam chowder. Hers was fine, 5 out of my 6 clams were fine, but the 6th was not edible. I told the server that my last one was no good, and he said "better than your first one being no good"... no sorry, no let me bring you another clam. Somehow, you get the feeling that this is a top down way of dealing with things... So I did not blame the server. Anyway... place is packed and clearly successful, so no reason why it should be filthy and worn out everywhere... kind of like a dive, but definitely not serving a dive kind of crowd or charging dive prices. The bathroom had burnt out bulbs and others flickering.... walls and doors and fixtures begging for attention. Fried Belly Clams were delicious... happy to find them edible outside of New England. So, a very mixed review. What leaves me coldest about this place is the 10 cent cutlery that they use... its awful and chintzy and speaks volumes about the "cheapness" of the owners. Take some of the profits and class it up just a bit... and, you owe me one...
