Fairway Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Greencastle

This was my first time eating at Fairway Family Restaurant. The place was hopping, to say the least. Another area restaurant was unexpectedly closed due to unforseen circumstances, so what felt like everyone in Greencastle went to Fairway. Despite the unusual rush, my wife and I were seated quickly, served our breakfast beverages, and our order was taken. This was done by staff that anywhere else I've eaten under similar circumstances would have acted like they were simply stressed beyond belief. Not here at Fairway. Our wait staff was prompt, courteous, and very pleasant.

For our meals, we both ordered the steak and eggs breakfast special, with minor variations. The steaks were delicious, the eggs prepared exactly as requested, and the hashbrowns crispy, but not overcooked. Simply stated, our meal was perfect.

Being new to the area, we are still discovering what's around and this discovery was a pure gem. Any restaurant managed this well and staffed with employees who genuinely care that your dining experience is exceptional deserves a shoutout! First time visiting this establishment. My father & I went here for dinner before he flew back home. When I started looking at the menu I saw the pictures of the salads and mentioned Applebee's is only about 30 mins away wanting to leave before we even ordered however he said to give it a chance. When the food arrived we both decided he was wrong. It was disgusting. He stated his super flat steak if that even was a steak wasn't to bad he stated the soup tasted like a can of cambells barely touched the green beans didn't finish his baked potatoe and what was the hamburger slider bun on his plate for?

The Au Jus sandwich was horrible. I ended up chucken it up. The meat was gray and had alot of fat and grissel. Those rubbery tube looking pieces made me get the ebbies. Eaten here a couple of times, and it's always been enjoyable. After today, I doubt we'll be going back. I wish I would've have caught the waitress name, but her service was awful. She didn't bring the dessert menu when we asked. I had to ask someone else. When our food came out, I had black olives when I asked to not to have them. I also didn't get extra sauce. My mom couldn't even eat her cheeseburger because it was coated in salt. We let our waitress know and she really didn't say anything. I asked for a to go box and a dessert. Took her 5 minutes to come back to the table with a to go cup. I laughed with her over the silly mix up. Then waited another 10 minutes. She never came back to the table!! We watched her walk around talking and laughing, completely forgetting our table. We just got up paid and left. I really wish I would've have caught her name.
