Tokyo Steak Of Japan — Restaurant in Greencastle

We received a flyer for this restaurant with a bunch of coupons on the back and we were excited to try them since we haven’t been able to locate a good place in Indiana, and the front of the flyer said they were available through DoorDash and GrubHub. Everyone in our family picked their respective orders utilizing the online menu, and I quickly learned that I’d have to place the order on the delivery website. When I attempted to do so, both websites stated we are outside the delivery limits. We proceeded to order through UberEats, but only half of the menu items were available on UberEats, and everything was considerably more cost-wise. We ordered what items we could, without the coupons, and with the fees and the total jumped to $104.00. Even excluding the service fees the food alone came to $68.50, whereas choosing the identical items on the website would have been $49.13. The most annoying part was that the food was AMAZING!! The portions were incredibly small, but all masterfully executed. They were visually appealing, tasty, and fresh. The only drawback was soggy spring rolls and chicken tempura, but that was a direct result of the long delivery wait and not the restaurant’s fault by any means. I just wish they would have considered the delivery zone limitations before sending out the flyers, and wishing that they could increase the availability of the cooked dishes like General Gau and Orange Chicken through the UberEats app! Legitimately would gladly be gauged with fees just to order from here again. Very nicely...

First review from 2022: Service is really good. They’re really nice. We love their sweet tea so much! It taste amazing.

I love their miso soup and their salad. It’s my favorite. Their salad dressing taste so so good.

Sashimi platter was okay, nothing special. I don’t think it was worth trying to be honest.

I order their shrimp tempura bento box, it’s really good! Great quality, and good portion.

Miso and tonkotsu ramen were okay. Nothing special.

I didn’t really like their yakisoba.

Overall, I love this place and i’ll always be back. ♥️

Update: april 2024 - quality went down. Their food is not as good as it used to be. Used to love this place when I lived closer around 2022. But now, too expensive for the quality. Last 3 pictures are from the recent visit! You’ll see the difference from a couple of years ago to now.

Edit: this is a response to the owner. The first few pictures are from a couple of years ago like it said on the updated review. It was from 2022 when I still lived around Greencastle. The last 3 pictures are from April of 2024, they’re the same food, but different quality. So stingy with your portions for the price. Umi is higher quality but cheaper than what you guys serve. You would know, you own the place so you know that your quality did go...

The food is well-presented, aromatic, and just plain delicious! The servings were generous, but not so much that you felt bad for cleaning your plate. They have a pretty big menu with choices for nearly every palate. Ok, so you don't like Sushi (I do! 😋) They have steak 😁 (it's a steakhouse) and they do a nice, juicy, New York Strip! The restaurant itself is very clean and you can see the food prep station through a large glass. The staff was friendly and efficient. Price wise it was a little more expensive than some, but less than others. For my income, it's a great place to eat for special occasions but I can't afford it often. If you haven't already, then give them a try! Even if your significant other doesn't like Asian cuisine, there is probably something on this menu they will enjoy! No excuses! 😁 It is well...
