Stopped for a bite before a craft workshop at Serendipity and had a lovely time. The venue is open and bright and the music was upbeat and fun. Could have been singing about horrible crimes, but since I only speak English, it was bouncy and chair-dancie.
Our server was lovely. I arrived later than my friend so I was out of sorts a little and forgot to ask her name. She was very friendly without anything fake about her.
The food. This one is difficult. We each had the Mexican Street Corn, she had 3 different types of Tacos and loved all three. I had the Carne Asada Taco Salad. The Mexican Street Corn is phenomenal. Alive with flavor with a gorgeous presentation. Add a little diced protein and it's a complete meal. The Taco Salad is the reason for only 3 stars on the food. It was bad. Not only was there barely any cheese, it was missing the tomatoes, salsa, and guacamole altogether. It felt off while I was there so I looked it up and discovered all these things were missing. But worse than the missing ingredients, was the quality of the meat. I don't know if they are purchasing poor quality beef or if their kitchen staff doesn't know the difference between what is good and what is garbage. There were a few pieces of gristle, along with good pieces so I didn't think much of it at the time, because things do sometimes happen. However, as I eat my leftovers today, most of what was remaining of the meat is just solid gristle. Had I found this while I was there I would have sent it back. Would this keep me from going back? No. But I would not get anything with steak again. My friend had no issues at all with her tacos and said they were all delicious, and like I said earlier, the Mexican Street Corn is phenomenal.
After the horrible traffic from an accident on the way there, I was really hungry and just dove right in before taking my pictures. But here they are anyway so you can get an idea. I did break off the side of the salad bowl so it does come completely contained inside with...

So glad this restaurant finally opened! This is one of those restaurants where you can be adventurous because you know everything coming out of the kitchen is going to taste great. Based on the fabulous dinner we had this evening, will definitely return.
Menu rotates quarterly as of this writing. Our menu featured Salvadoran, Dominican, and Argentinian delights.
Dominican ribs were buttery tender and flavorful, with asparagas cooked just right and mashed taro that left me wondering what I thought was so great about mashed potatoes. Chicken empanadas #2 next to one other restaurant in the MKE area specializing in empanadas. Ala Mantequilla and Cameron Rojo sooooo delicious....shrimp perfectly prepared, plates were clean.
Be sure to try their house margarita--Mangopeno. Do not be afraid of the jalepeno (it's infused, which is not like biting into a jalepeno).
Chris is an outstanding server, attentive, friendly, great energy, helpful explanations.
Free parking in a lot that seems about the right size for the number of tables in the restaurant. It was full when we left. Other parking options may be available nearby.
We went on a Friday evening at 5pm; place filled up over the next two hours (might want to make a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe tried this restaurant for the first time as it was recommended by a few people, and it is close by. We ordered the food to go. My daughter had the lemon blueberry pancakes, which she loved, although she only ate the parts that were saturated in the blueberries. I thought they were rubbery, but that could have been because they were sitting the in to-go containers. My son had the tamales de gallina, he said they were amazing and would eat them again. My husband was extremely disappointed with the huevos rancheros. He said it was bland, and he was upset that they forgot his toast. We ordered take away, I understand that could have been rectified if we were sitting in the restaurant. I ordered the Benedict a la oscar from the brunch menu. The lady on the telephone asked which Benedict I wanted and was confused because online on the brunch menu there was only one Benedict. It was supposed to have crab and asparagus. I opened mine to a chorizo sausage patty with egg and hollandaise on an English muffin. No crab or asparagus. It tasted good, so I ate it, but itās not what I ordered. Again, I get that we ordered over the phone, and this could have been rectified in the restaurant, but make sure you have the plates right before you...
