If you want a place that absolutely delivers on flavor, size, price, and kindness ā Goodies Restaurant in Greenfield is the real deal. After driving over an hour just to eat there recently, I can honestly say: this is my new standard for commercial pizza (homeācooked still wins in my house, but for eating out, Goodies is unmatched).
From the first bite everything was topātier. The sandwiches are enormous and a total steal. The hot chicken stir fry and cold Italian subs were loaded with flavor. The Garden and Antipasto salads were crisp, fresh, balanced perfectly. The 16" pizza (pepperoni + fresh garlic in our case) had great crust, good toppings, and a flavorful tomato sauce. Even the jalapeƱo poppers were excellent (cream cheese, as they should be), and the curly fries were perfectly crisp and not greasy.
Pricing? Blows me away. For what you get - size, quality, service - it feels like youāre winning.
The place is clean, spacious with plenty of seating, and very welcoming. Staff were wonderful. The manager went above and beyond: we showed up near closing, hungry after a long day, and even though things were winding down, they made us comfortable, bringing over another table so our family could spread out as I had ordered large to try more of the menu. The friendly blond gal was equally fantastic, bringing out dish after dish with a smile and genuine warmth. Despite the late hour, the food started streaming out almost immediately, and in no time everything arrived hot and fresh. We were never made to feel rushed (and while we were gone well before they locked the doors and finished their cleanup, that was of our one volition, not because they were shoving us out).
Iāve been to all the pizza places in the area that we can reach (everyone in Brattleboro, Greenfield, and most of the surrounding towns), and Goodies is the best. No contest. If you want hearty portions, great flavors, excellent service, and fantastic value - drive the hour like we did today....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile it's been years since I've dined in I do order often for delivery whether it's myself personally or my office as a whole.
Food is always great, I usually order online and when my office orders we call and place the order online. They know us! It's great makes us feel welcome and like we almost know each other personally.
You do need a minimum of $20 for delivery to Turners Falls so I wait for a coupon or order as a group unless I'm in a pinch. I'm not complaining by far the other day my car was in the shop and there isn't much within walking distance so it worked out great.
Now let me tell you this because this is really important to me, I ordered for I always ask if comes just before I go on lunch because you never know what's going to happen. Keep in mind we order from them often and this has never happened in years of ordering from them. About 15 minutes before my order was due to arrive, 30 minutes before my lunch break they called and said their driver was out and they were going to be late! I assured them I ordered with extra time it was OK. They were about 15 minutes late. The driver that came was so sweet and apologetic. I explained like I had over the phone it truly was OK. I proceeded to apologize on behalf of anyone they had to call who may have yelled at them. They are human and have a business people get sick. After YEARS of ordering it's the first time it's happened. Please remember not to be upset at them if these things happen they are human.
Also, I recommend their chef salad, anything they have with bourbon chicken and their taco pizza. But it's all delicious.
Thank you Goodies for always being so great! Keep it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreenfield has a ton of places to get pizza and personally I really like goodies. Their pizza is pretty good, classic New England style, and their quality control is good too so you always know just what you are going to get. Their sandwiches are nothing special, just standard for a pizza shop so not bad, but nothing to write home about. Their salads though... pretty terrible but I don't really hold that against them (if you expect a place that does pizza to do great salads then you need to get your priorities straight.)
Oh and as for their selection of sides (such as fries, onion rings, jalapeno poppers etc) all of this is actually really good. I don't know if they have a deep frier, a separate oven or what but the sides always come out cooked just the way they should be. Often with places like this, if they offer sides they have a hard time nailing down the oven times to make things work well but they did something right here. Now that isn't to say that if you order fries they are going to blow your mind, they are still obviously frozen and are nothing special, but they are cooked as well as you could hope which as far as I am concerned is...
